'13 TN ATH Cornelius Elder (Miami FL Signee)

Ensworth running back Corn Elder has kept his recruitment wide open.

He has taken official visits to UCLA, Ohio State and Auburn and plans to visit Georgia Tech this weekend.

?They?re all great schools and they?re all neck-and-neck,? he said. ?I?m just taking it day by day and we?ll see what happens.?

Further clouding Elder?s situation is his basketball talent.

Purdue coach Matt Painter was on hand for Ensworth?s loss Saturday at CPA, and the Boilermakers have offered Elder a basketball scholarship.

?Ramsey, Elder, guys like that have plenty of options and can make their decision whenever they want,? Simmons said. ?I think Corn?s uncertainty with what sport he wants to play ? that decision is giving him some pause. I think Ohio State is his favorite football program, but they don?t want him to play basketball.

?Nothing would really surprise me.?

Judging purely by scholarship offers, he is leaps and bounds a better football prospect than basketball prospect. He must truly love the game of basketball since he would realistically have zero shot at the NBA, and at least some chance at the NFL.

The Tennessean

As college football begins its national signing period on Wednesday, one of the Midstate?s top recruits won?t be involved in the initial hoopla.

Ensworth running back Corn Elder ? the No. 2 prospect on The Tennessean Dandy Dozen ? said Monday he does not intend to sign immediately.

?I?m not going to make my decision on Wednesday,? said Elder, who made an official visit to Georgia Tech over the weekend following a midweek visit to Auburn.

Elder said both schools have offered football scholarships with an opportunity to play basketball as well. Vanderbilt and UCLA have presented similar situations.

Elder also has a football-only scholarship offer from Ohio State and recently received a basketball offer from Purdue.

?Hopefully (I will decide) in the next couple of weeks, but not on Wednesday,? he said.

The basketball coaching staffs at Tennessee and Memphis have shown interest in Elder lately. He said he probably will not entertain any other football offers other than the ones he is already considering.

?I guess it would depend on the school,? he said. ?If I liked the school maybe, but as of right now, no.?
