Great get for OSU. Dastrup will be the most offensively skilled big man OSU will have had since Sullinger regardless of when he joins. Matta will be able to dust off the pick & pop plays for sure. If Dastrup is 2016 as it appears, then certainly they can continue to recruit Turner which makes this even sweeter. But either way, great get for OSU. I'd say of all the players that Matta has had, he's like a rich man's Kyle Madsen.

Matta has just landed a skilled 4* big man from Arizona - I can't even remember any OSU hoopsters coming from Arizona so another recruiting rarity.

Also, this is a kind of a gut punch to BYU, they thought everything was pointing to them and they had certain advantages in this recruitment (religion, geography, longer recruiting him). BYU doesn't have those sort of "ins" for 4-star big men very often.

Wow, this is awesome! Can we get an official thread change? I cam in expecting bad news haha. Great get for Matta & Co. Go get your mission young man and come back ready to dominate.

Definitely Payton is an unusual get for OSU, not only being from the West but also being 6'9" and very skilled for a big man and also has a rep of a blue collar player. Going to be a good solid player for OSU. He will help OSU to hurt opposing teams by making their big man step out of the paint and guard the 3-point arc where bigs are often uncomfortable and slow to defend.
