Suwanee (GA) North Gwinnett

Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 247 lbs.

Offered per several scouting site profiles.

@Niebuhr247

#OhioState moved quickly on 2014 DE Dante Sawyer. Talked for 1st time a few days ago. He didn't think offer would come until he visited
Sawyer goes to North Gwinnett HS and '13 GA LB Trey Johnson goes to Central Gwinnett HS so there might be a connection between the two players.

He apparently played RB as a freshman.

Trey was an awesome get but we have a random GA recruit every 1-3 years (Cam, Roby, Russel, Mitchell, etc.). However, the true pipeline opens up next year...if we get less than 3 top-notch commits from GA I would be shocked and that does not include Sawyer. It will be interesting to see if commitments from guys like McMillan, Autry, Brown Jr., etc. can really make a big impact on medium interest guys like Sawyer.

Sawyer seems very interested in the Buckeyes and is a big Urban Meyer fan.

Dante Sawyer, a defensive end from North Gwinnett High School, will be one of the top visitors for UGA?s Junior Day this weekend.

The 6-foot-3, 247-pound Sawyer could get an offer. He had a conversation on Thursday night with UGA assistant Bryan McClendon (who recruits Gwinnett County) that led him to believe that it?s a strong possibility.

?Coach McClendon did not come out and say that I had an offer coming,? Sawyer told the AJC on Friday. ?He just said ?Coach Richt wants to talk with you, and you?ll be hearing some good news.??

As one of the state?s top prospects for 2014, Sawyer has been hearing a lot of good news lately. He and his father went to Alabama?s Junior Day last month and spent 45 minutes with Nick Saban.

?Coach Saban expressed how important schoolwork was, and told me how he could see me fitting in there,? Sawyer said. ?It was a great experience. I felt like I was on top of the world, sitting there with the coach who just won the national championship.?

Was Sawyer tempted to commit on the spot? ?No, sir. I don?t think I?m going to commit anywhere soon. I want to spend more time visiting with coaches and colleges before I make a decision.?

This weekend will be UGA?s best chance. Sawyer already has around a dozen offers, including Alabama, USC, Tennessee and Ohio State.

?If Georgia offered, it would be in my top five, for sure,? Sawyer said. ?I like that it?s close to home, I like the atmosphere, and I like Athens altogether.?

Sawyer said he will likely make his college decision by the end of the summer.

Kentucky Football Coaches Really Want 2014 DE Dante Sawyer

Dante Sawyer has already gotten an offer from Mark Stoops and he has made a a visit for Kenutcky's junior day February 23. Sawyer is one of the best defensive ends in the 2014 class and has offers from Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, South Carolina and several, several, more Division I schools.

The 6'3", 240 lbs. junior from Suwanee, GA is ranked the 19th-best defensive end by Scout.com in his class.

Apparently he is getting a lot of letters from Kentucky coaches, all hand-written. Kentucky is though to be one of his five favorites.
