Drake "LLLL" Harris (ttun WR; transfer to Western Michigan)

Call me a biased Michigan fan, but I think this one is pretty much over. Drake's father is a pretty big die-hard Michigan fan, and he's said many times that while Drake was an MSU basketball fan, he was always a Michigan football fan growing up.

The MSU commitment was based on Izzo and basketball. MSU football and Dantonio had literally nothing to do with that commitment. Drake had been recruited by Izzo since he was in the 7th grade and playing AAU ball. Once the decision to drop basketball was made there was no way he was going to MSU.

As far as who will get him the ball if Gardner goes down, well Shane Morris would have passed Bellomy anyway imo. The QB situation is what it is, only 3 guys on scholly, and the least talented one just blew out his ACL. Watching that Nebraska game where Bellomy didn't even have the arm strength to throw a 10 yard out it was like watching Nick Sheridan all over again.

Harris visited Michigan and hung out with Gardner and Morris all weekend on a few occasions, and he seems sold on the both of them. He's also really close with 2014 Michigan QB commit Wilton Speight.

If there's one thing to know about recruiting, is that being a lifelong fan means absolutely nothing. Many players have been fans of one school and went to another, and sometimes even the rival school.
And like Mike said, be worried about urban meyer. The recruiting season is still very young for the 2014 guys. We still have a while to go with this. And if drake could decommit once, he can certainly do it again. ScUM fans shouldn't rejoice too much when your rival has one of the most relentless recruiters in cfb as their head coach and his assistants are every bit as tireless

Nothing is ever over with Urban. I won't be confident until next Feb when the LOI is faxed in
Drake will be an EE, so you won't have to wait till February. He's taking a couple of online classes that will help him graduate early.

Look, I have said this since I started posting here, but it's pretty clear that in the Big Ten, recruiting wise, it's the big two and then a huge gap ... a very huge gap ... than the rest of the Big Ten. Is this a huge get for Michigan -- of course, but I don't think Urban Meyer is sitting there thinking that at WR it was Drake Harris or bust. Urban Meyer is a fantastic recruiter, and like TTUN, Ohio State is recruiting about as well as anyone can. The Game is what benefits!

...and that's all I care about.

Agree completely. The past few classes OSU and MICH combined have been out-recruiting the other 10 B1G schools combined, at least on paper that is.

PSU looked like they might be in that class when O'Brien was hired and he was on fire on the recruiting trail early, but that all fell apart with the sanctions and it's going to be a long time before PSU can recruit at that level again.

Until tsun makes some major coaching changes on the offensive side of the ball, the rivalry is going to stay incredibly lopsided. No running game and jump ball passing just doesn't work against superior athletes.

Please keep this thread focused on Drake Harris & not B1G recruiting/offense chat/etc. If you want to discuss those topics, feel free to post in those threads.

Thanks

Gotta tell you folks, these kids nowadays are waaay smarter than we were. They are terribly politically correct, saying all the right things, all in order to keep their options open. They weigh their chances of playing early, and often, yet keep all their other balls (other school's recruiters) in the air, in case there's a change in their target coach/school.

Never can fault a person for bettering themselves. Looking at depth charts is a very intelligent thing to do, and figuring out where they would fit within a particular school's offense. The age old question, would you rather ride the pine at school X, or play at school Y? With all the info available nowadays, a tall WR with good hands and speed can be recruited and play for Podunk U, and have a good chance to get to the 'Show'. Let alone a Michigan. Don't blame them at all. Even as much as it pains me to say it, especially the Ohio kids that OSU doesn't make an 'all-out' effort to go after (either late or not hard enough). Always want the Ohio kids to do well, no matter which stage they choose.

Ultimately, the B10 needs a strong Michigan for National acclaim. Hate to admit it, but it's true. In my scarlet & gray heart, I believe that Urban will continue the Tress history of beating Michigan, and at least a quarter century of Tress & Urban whupping up on Michigan. Now, not once, but TWICE a year. Ectasy.

Michigan receiver Drake Harris switching sides to become a cornerback

Either way, Harris should have two more seasons to learn the position and possibly, with his size, think about intercepting passes at the next level instead of catching them on offense.

Entire article: http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsport...arris-switching-sides-to-become-a-cornerback/

He'll SUCK at that position too; however, he does has the golden opportunity to achieve the "much coveted scUM position" of going 0-5 (i.e. LLLLL).
