DeShone Kizer (official thread)

You guys remember Dane Sanzenbacher? Well, Kizer comes from the same high school as Sanz.

How's the Buckeyes depth at QB look for 2015? Miller will be gone. Who else do you guys have in the cupboard? Would a guy like Kizer fit in at OSU?

It would be Cardale Jones and whoever the Buckeyes sign in the 2013 class, which will likely be two players (Zaire and Trubisky, if I had to guess).

think michigan having morris will help osu here..depth chart in 2014 on looks much more open for the buckeyes
I'm sure we're going to sign a QB for the 2013 class... or two. I don't expect the depth charts to be much different for either team.

That said, the fact that we will have several capable qb's on the roster means there will be a competition at some point to name Braxton's successor, something I doubt Kizer backs away from. Michigan on the other hand will have their clear cut starter in Morris and they likely will not be willing to uproot that.

Bingo. When Kizer gets around to signing, Morris will be the starter at scUM for a few years, and the QB competition at OSU will be wide open once Brax leaves.

DeShone Kizer of Toledo (OH) Central Catholic is going to be one of the most sought-after prospects in the country and there is mutual interest between the Wolverines and the recruit.

The 6'5", 205-pound multi-sport athlete already has three early offers from Toldeo, Bowling Green and Syracuse, but was quoted by VanHaaren as saying:

"I would love to go to a school like Ohio State or Michigan, but being a three-sport athlete I loved to follow the (Texas) Longhorns since they are pretty much a powerhouse in each sport," he said. "And living in a state with a rivalry like Ohio State and Michigan, everyone tends to choose Ohio State. My family are all Michigan fans, so I tend to choose Michigan when it comes game time."

That is his only tie to the Wolverines, but he also believes himself to be a passing quarterback first and foremost.

As a sophomore he threw for 1,147 yards and 10 touchdowns and ran for 540 yards and four touchdowns. Obviously the youngster still has his best football ahead of him and his potential is through the roof.

I read he was at this last camp with the rest of the 2014 QBs being considered (except Crest) - is there someone who knows how he performed?

2014 will be interesting for the QB position. A lot of talent to consider.

Scout $ - Ohio State: Thursday Camp Roundup

6/21

Notes on Kizer: Ran pretty well & has a strong arm, but needs to work on being consistent and on his mechanics.
