'16 OH PF Omari Spellman (Villanova Verbal)

Free Rivals - Clash of the NYC Titans @ Basketbull

It could've gotten blown out of control in favor of New Heights if not for Spellman early on though. The 6'9" big man got the ball at the top of the key and slashed his way inside for Scan's first bucket of the game. He then followed up by scoring 10 of the team first 12 points in a variety of ways from backing in Sanders, to stepping out and knocking down a three ball from the left wing. Scan took their first lead at 12-11 just six minutes in and the game was officially on.

I was surprised watching him on highlights for the first time yesterday. I did not expect a player as thick as he is based on what I had read, I had thought he would be a physical freak. And he can still elevate and throw it down well. I guess that is why he has some real good potential for college.

He is - definitely can tone up a bit but he doesn't need to as it hasn't affected his athleticism. He's going to make a stellar stretch forward and really fits into what offenses are trying to do now. Make it happen Matta!

I don't know what the priorty is, but assuming Russell is a 2 and done guy, a PG/CG has got to be the #1 priority. Now after that, I do kind of agree that Spellman seems like the "in state" guy I'd most like to get. King is a really good player and I certainly want to land him as well, but Spellman has size and ability to score inside and out and I think that combination would bring something that our team would not have otherwise.

He may be a star for Nova, but not this year. Declared ineligible for failing to meet initial eligibility requirements, whatever the heck that means.
