'18 DE CG Eric Ayala (Maryland Verbal)

I am not absolutely sure about that with all the talent that we have in Ohio and the surrounding states..

He's #81 by Scout, #71 by Rivals, #86 by ESPN and #65 by 247 (their ranking not the composite)

I understand wanting to build recruiting bases in Ohio, but you don't deny talented national players (in favor of maybe a little less talented in state players) who you may be able to land just because of that.

I am also thinking that if he does not reclassify may be that Syracuse admiration might heat up again.. I do not know but we are in on a lot of guard talent for 2018 so I was just thinking that we might go in a different direction and so might he.

How can Syracuse be full? Boeheim's been coaching for thirty-plus years, doesn't he know you never go full thirteen? :lift:

Ayala's video looks okay. Very similar to Cohill, except Ayala has maybe two inches on him. I'm feeling kind of :bored: about him, but we'll see.

it's certainly not a bad thing for osu that ayala has performed well so far during july's first evaluation. he led his team to the uaa 17u championship while averaging 18 and 9 rebounds. i would guess that the better ayala plays this month, the more likely he is to reclassify to '17, which would increase osu's chances if not make them the favorite. those teams hoping for ayala to be a '18 commit are probably hoping he underwhelms the rest of the month.

If Ayala would happen to land here and reclassify, I would be cautiously optimistic about fielding a competitive team next year. Don't want to get my hopes up too much but adding a '17 class of Ayala, Jallow, Young and Wesson to Tate, KBD, Kam Williams, etc. could actually give us a decent, albeit shallow roster. Really hoping we can pull this one out.

I'm thinking that if he decides to re-classify then it would have to mean OSU at this point right...?

It wouldn't even be especially shallow. Yeah, we wouldn't be loaded with depth but Ayala shores up that issue at both backcourt spots, giving us a very workable roster.

With the right coaching I think it could be a competitive team. Right now the only major thing holding this team back, in terms of personnel, is the backcourt situation.
If he reclassifies it will between us and Oregon and Maryland and Syracuse are full
