'18 OH G Dwayne Cohill (Dayton Verbal)

Toured the campus and met with academic advisors this past Sunday after meeting with Coach Matta and receiving his offer. Really enjoyed his visit and from the article:

"It means a lot," Cohill said. "Growing up you're like that's my hometown team, I want to play there one day. Actually being able to say you have the chance to play there, it means a lot. It's like you're playing for your town and just trying to give back, you're proud of yourself for seeing that the work paid off. It's about making your dreams come true."

Dwayne Cohill says Buckeyes offer 'means a lot': Can you call Ohio State basketball the favorite?

  • A pair of players in the 2018 class who each have offers from Ohio State squared off over the weekend as Dwayne Cohill and Robby Carmody went head-to-head at an event in Canton, Ohio. Cohill's team came out on top with a one-point win, but here are some highlights from the game between the two top 2018 prospects, via 3rdCoastHoops.

Fun to watch. Would love to see Cohill in scarlet and gray. Carmody appears destined for Pitt.

Now I like when I reading here:
"I was surprised. I thought he would stay at Butler because he had something good going there with what they were building," Cohill, a four-star guard and top-60 national prospect from Parma Holy Name told cleveland.com. "But I'm glad that he got the job because of the relationship that we have."

Cohill said he hopes to talk with Holtmann once things get settled, "see where things go from there."
"He looked for guys who fit what he wanted," Cohill said. "He didn't just go out and recruit the highest-rated kids with five stars. He looked for kids that showed good characteristics on and off the court. He got guys to work hard for him. If he comes in, brings his style and the characteristics he has, he'll be a very successful coach at Ohio State."

2. Dwayne Cohill, 2018 Guard, Parma Holy Name
I view Cohill as Ohio State's top priority in the 2018 recruiting class, and that's based a lot on positional need. Ohio State needs guards big time. Cohill is a four-star prospect, ranked the No. 57 player in the country and the No. 3 combo guard. He would be a huge get.

The reason I have him ahead of Weaver is I like the idea of a Cohill-Goodwin, all-Ohio backcourt.

Cohill was recruited by Holtmann at Butler, and they've built a strong connection. Like with every Ohio/Butler guy on this list, keeping Pedon on staff would help immensely. But Holtmann should be able to get these guys even without Pedon. That's why he got the job.

Vanderbilt, Texas, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Dayton, Clemson, Ohio State, Penn State, West Virginia, and UNLV.

Ohio State: “The staff is great people on and off the court. They all want to see their guys not only do well on the court but in life and that’s something I’m looking for. Also, I mean, it’s my home state team and I was brought up on Ohio State basketball and football so it’s ingrained in me a little bit. I’ve had a great relationship with the staff since they were at Butler and now carrying over to OSU.”
