COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State basketball offered one of the fastest-rising in-state products on Monday.

Darius Bazley, a 2018 forward from Finneytown High School, announced that he received an offer from the Buckeyes. Bazley is considered a three-star prospect and the No. 2 player in Ohio by 247Sports, but that will change as he continues to make his rise throughout this summer and next season.

He announced the Ohio State offer on his public Twitter account. He's also reported offers from Florida and St. Louis this month.

Bazley has grown two inches in the past year and now stands at 6-9. He was offered by Ohio State last spring and joined his AAU teammate Justin Ahrens of Versailles in committing to Ohio State on Aug. 27 during an unofficial visit to campus.

“You can’t really explain it,” Bazley said. “If you go up to Ohio State, you’re going to fall in love with it. They have an amazing coaching staff and a great fanbase. My relationship with Thad and Coach Dickerson is good.

“It meant a lot for me to see them here and just to know they aren’t losing any interest. They’ve said I just need to bounce back when I have another game tomorrow.”

Bazley is ranked as the nation's No. 51 prospect overall, No. 14 small forward and No. 1 player in Ohio in the 247Sports Composite rankings for 2018. He also had offers from Cincinnati, Florida, Dayton, Purdue and Xavier.

He actually played the point guard position last season as a sophomore for Finneytown, which was 9-14 overall. He averaged 15.8 points, 12.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.5 assists and 2.4 blocks per game. He shot 44 percent from the floor and 75 percent at the foul line.

Well, you can see Bazley has it all. Size, athleticism, skill, and smarts. Nice-looking game. He still has a lot to prove, production-wise, though. Never really won in a school-setting against well-coached teams who actually play tough defense. I'm not worried about him, just saying he's kind of an unknown to an extent. He's too well-rounded not to be an asset.
