Darius Bazley (SF Oklahoma City Thunder)

This absolutely sucks. Best player in the state and a much needed wing player with Keita Bates gone after '18. I think he sees the writing on the wall with Thad and is looking for greener pastures and I can't blame him to be honest. I appreciate Thad's service, but he needs to go. Sooner than later. Hopefully a new regime change can jumpstart recruiting and bring him back into the fold.

This is going to be our reality until one of two things happens:

1. Thad Matta shows that he can turn the program around, thus solidifying his job security
2. We move on from Matta and hire a new coach to restore some excitement around a dying program.

The current state of the program makes #1 seem pretty unlikely at this point.

IMO, the worst thing that can happen is tOSU eeks out a tournament berth next season and Smith sees that as reason to keep Matta even longer. If we manage to keep Thompson, then that seems like a strong possibility. But the recruiting hasn't been strong enough to have a very bright outlook on the future even if they go something like 22-14 with a first or second round loss in the tourney. And it isn't going to get any better unless there are significant changes in the programs current trajectory.

According to landof10.com, Cincy, Xavier, and Purdue are the schools that have shown interest lately and enticed him to decommitt. Really?!? No Ohio kid should ever be considering those schools over OSU even in the worst of times. This only happens if players lose a lack of faith in your direction. Thad needs to go

I bet he's trying to boost his stock to get a bigger offers than those schools.

Well, we (and everyone else) whiffed on Larry Nance Jr., so yeah, Pete is interesting...but like you guys said, those three schools are simply not supposed to steal Ohio recruits. Purdue's Ohio guys are fairly good, but thy weren't even offered by the Bucks (Mathias and Vince Edwards). What's going on behind the scenes? More decommits?

True. But he decommitted before the big offer (UK, Kansas, Mich. St, Duke, Kentucky, UCLA, etc) came. That's like leaving your job before you get a better one. You have to really hate your current job (or in this case not believe in the program you are committed to) in order to do that.
