BUCKEYE LEGACY JEREMIAH FRANCIS DAZZLES IN WIN AT WESTERVILLE SOUTH

Jeremiah Francis has grown up in and around Ohio State basketball. Like Wesson, Francis' father, Jerry Francis, played for the Buckeyes in the 1980s and scored more than 1000 points in his career.

Performing in front of Ohio State coaches Greg Paulus and Chris Jent, one of Jerry Francis' good friends, the young sophomore Jeremiah Francis played the best game of his career. Going for a career-high 27 points, Francis was in attack mode from the opening tip.

Attacking Westerville South off the dribble, from the perimeter and especially on defense, Francis showed the full arsenal of a skill set that is ever expanding. In a game where Francis needed to take control for Pickerington Central to win, Francis did just that, sparking a 25-5 second quarter behind four first half threes.

Francis would finish the job in the second half, hitting big shots and converting at the line, while keeping the ball on a string and limiting Pickerington Central turnovers. In a game that was supposed to feature the two elite big men, it would be Francis who stole the show.

Holding offers from Nebraska, Purdue and West Virginia, Francis is on the radar of more than a dozen high-major programs, including Ohio State. Taking point guards in the 2016 and 2017 classes, it is likely that OSU will not recruit that position in 2018, which could open up a scholarship opportunity for Francis in 2019

EVALUATION
Jeremiah Francis is the No. 2 ranked player in the 2019 class, and the No. 1 point guard. A physical 6-foot-2 guard with a mature build, Francis has been a mainstay in the Pickerington Central backcourt since day one of his freshman season. A skilled ball-handler that can take defenders off the dribble to the basket, Francis can do a little bit of everything offensively. Strong and physical on the defensive perimeter, Francis is a five-tool point guard prospect that is considered among the ten best nationally in his class.

Ohio State offer..

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State basketball had a disaster of a loss on Saturday night against Nebraska, so the timing of offering a top basketball prospect could be deemed a little strange.

But that didn't stop the Buckeyes from offering one of the best players in Ohio.

Jeremiah Francis, a four-star 2019 point guard from Pickerington Central, was offered by Ohio State. Francis is the son of former Buckeye basketball player Jerry Francis.

Francis is rated the No. 2 player in Ohio, the No. 27 point guard in the class and the No. 136 overall player in the country according to the 247Sports composite ratings. Ohio State has also offered the No. 1 player in Ohio for 2019, Gahanna wing Jordan Mitchell.

I know it is a long way off but Francis certainly talks like he wants to be a Buckeye.
Francis is well aware of the current state of the Ohio State program, too. It’s hard not to be as the Columbus kid with a parent who played for the Buckeyes. But Francis was pretty emphatic in saying that doesn’t worry him as a recruit. In fact, it may even make him want to stay home that much more.

“It makes me want to be a guy that gets there and gets it going again,” he said. “I want the Schott to be rocking again. … I want to get that program back going and get the Schott going again.”

I wonder if Ohio State was interested in Manley and is he a better player than Wesson at this time.

I can't see any way Manley is better than Wesson at this time, but he seems to have some potential. Bucks already have plenty of bigs that need developing, so couldn't have seen that recruitment happening.

Sounds like Francis is a done deal, but I imagine he's not rushing into things just to see how the program and everything else shakes out. He's only a sophomore, he can wait. Nothing against Francis, but I was kind of hoping we would get Gordon (Sidney) and Davis (Trotwood) based on personal preference, but that isn't happening now. Francis seems to have a B1G-style game, though.

Huggy was in Columbus last night at the Pick Central/North game.

Earlier in the day the Hillbillies were in Buffalo eliminating ND to earn a sweet 16 bid.

Any idea what Thad and Co were up to.
They are free this March.

It's not news when the local staff is at their games yet again, particularly since they're free. It is for the others
