Buckeyes football coach Woody Hayes holds a copy of his book Football at Ohio State in July 1957, two months before his team began a run to the national championship.
Quick, name Ohio State's five widely recognized national championship teams. Time's up! How did you do?
The 2002 team, that was the easiest. The 1954 team, who can forget coach Woody Hayes' first juggernaut with "Hopalong" Cassady? And 1942, for a history buff, that is a required memory, because it was the first. The 1968 team and its "super sophs" of Rex Kern, Jim Stillwagon and company, they re-awoke the Buckeye nation.
But that's only four. The one most often forgotten, which for some reason isn't regarded with the same esteem, is the 1957 team.
