'20 OH PG Zeb Jackson (PG ttun, transfer to VCU)

probably growing out of his position as point guard. at least in terms of how one complements the other, don't see an issue with penn and jackson being in the same class. not sure about scholarship availability, though, especially with someone like loveday as a target.

I wonder if this offer puts any heat under Dom Penn to commit and get his spot in the class wrapped up/reserved. With only two sure spots - though more will undoubtedly pop up by the time the 2020 class signs - and now 3 Ohioans offered it might get a bit tight at some point.

it makes sense that an offer to jackson may put a little pressure on penn. although, i doubt penn thinks that jackson is anywhere close to committing, especially to osu. reading some of jackson's comments and creeping some of his tweets, i don't see an osu fan.

as you note, more offers will undoubtedly go out. from the backcourt, dj steward will probably get an offer. maybe jalen suggs. probably some others. i'd like to see garvin clarke get an offer. very much so. he doesn't even have a 247 profile yet. don't care. he has "it." thrives on both sides of the court. reminds me a lot of conley in tempo, savvy, and composure.

Ohio State men’s basketball | Buckeyes pursuing 2020 point guard Zeb Jackson

Ohio State has started dipping its toes further into the waters of the 2020 recruiting class. Last week, that led to the latest scholarship offer to a player preparing to start his junior year of high school: Zeb Jackson, a point guard from Maumee (Ohio) Country Day School.

Rob Conover, his coach, told The Dispatch today that Jackson projects as a true point guard at the collegiate level although he plays off the ball during AAU season.

“The ball is in his hands a lot,” Conover said. “He can distribute. He averaged five assists per game this year on top of 19.5 points per game. He started to rebound more. He’s a big point guard. He’s starting to fill out. Muscle and all that is coming along and he’s only a sophomore. I think he’s going to grow a little bit more yet. He’s got great explosion. His skill level is off the charts. I think that’s what a lot of the college coaches are seeing is just his skill, his knowledge of the game.”

...

It’s led to a number of high-level offers. According to 247Sports, Butler offered him a scholarship after an unofficial visit this past weekend. The Buckeyes, with assistant coach Ryan Pedon working as lead recruiter, did so in early May.

“I know that he and his father walked away really impressed with the entire coaching staff and coach (Chris) Holtmann,” Conover said. “I think the comments that were made were that they’ve got a clear vision for where that program is going and how Zeb would fit into that mix. Obviously Ohio State’s facilities and things like that are some of the best in the nation, but the majority of their takeaway was how impressed they were with the coaching staff at Ohio State. They really liked campus. They got to go check out the student union and things like that. Ryan Pedon’s been doing the majority of the recruiting on Zeb’s side, so I think they’ve got a pretty strong relationship building, which is obviously important to both sides.”

...

As the attention has grown during the last few months, Conover said Jackson is in no rush to make a decision and that the school encourages all its students to take as many college visits as possible to assist with making their college choices.

Thank you sir. Appreciate the info. June competition is usually bad as there's not much to play in other than mom and pop tournaments. It heats up in the July open period. The Atlanta and Vegas tournaments should have great competition.

jackson did face strong competition and played very well during the spring, though, including the under armour event in indianapolis and the independent event in fort wayne. given how he played at the run-n-slam, i'm surprised more programs didn't offer the week after like osu did.
