Game Thread (2004) Game Seven: Indiana - 10/23/04 (W, 4-3/1-3)

I'm simply stating that no matter how well he plays today, it's going to be followed by "it was Indiana". I fail to see how he is going to be able to win today - thus no-win. I'm sorry if logic is problem here.

You don't need to apologize for your lack of it.

The door swings both ways. If Smith has an average game or worse, then we can right that off as first start jitters and poor protection. If he has an above average game or better, we don't know how much of that is Indiana and other factors like FINALLY having some success on the ground.

I hope Troy continues to play well, I hope as he plays more, his decision making will get better. But I maintain that no one but kneejerk BNers are going to learn anything meaningful from TS this week. The more games he plays against a range of competition quality, the more we'll know. That's not pro or anti Smith. It's just reason.

I am cautiously optimistic, but then I'd say that about anything related to the team right now.

-- other thoughts --

Wondering why we hadn't seen Tony G. earlier than this.

Wondering why we've gone from a great tackling team, to an embarrassing one.

Wondering why some OSU fans always have to put one player up on an impossibly high pedestal, just so they can later enjoy tearing them down.

Wondering why Pittman can step out of a tackle, but our Seniors can't.

Thinking about a rant I should write later about how ALL I care about are the silver helmets on the field. I don't care who is in them individually. Swap Zwick with Smith, Smith with Boeckman, Boeckman with Rob S., doesn't matter. I want anyone playing to succeed.

Well....uh, it is just Indiana.

Prove it against a quality team and I'll be impressed. Until then....it's just Indiana.

Which doesn't take anything away from Smith.

He may well be all his cheerleaders have been claiming. God, I really hope so. All I hear people saying here (including myself) is that it's too early for anyone with a brain to really form a meaningful opinion.
