[2004:NCAA] fantasy league

I've done a few google searches and followed a couple links into a nice sticky web of windows but have still not found a free site for taking individual players.. everyone who posted will deffinitly be added assuming a free league presents itself.. maybe we should petition yahoo to start one, im sure it would bring in more business being the only one seemingly in existance. Or any of you computer savy buckeye fans could take this oppurunity to get a leg up on the competition and make some cash. just saying

Everyone,

I used to run a mini-fantasy challange on campus. It was only a few people, but we basically used a very similar fantasy scale and "salaries" for teams that were in the advertisements you see in Sporting News, and had a "salary cap" league, where everyone picked 8 teams, stayed under the cap, and whoever had the most points at the end of the year won. That could be done on a bit larger scale without too much trouble (I basically just got up on Sunday morning and kept the scores myself). That could also be done in a draft-a-team fashion if one cut down the number of teams per player to 3 to 5, which could be really interesting in a 10-20 player league. Just something to ponder if there is nothing else out there available.

If anyone ever finds something, I would like to participate as well. Unless it's too late. Which would suck, because then you bastards get to have all the fun, while I just sit here fuming. Fine, just forget it. I mean, unless there's a spot left?

I dunno fka, ive looked and not found anything.. and i dont really have the time to be the one to do all the stats myself so unless someone else shouts out some really great ideas i think this plan is fading away.

Last year I played a college fantasy game on SportingNews.com. You get a set amount of cash, and can hold up to 4 teams on offense and 4 on defense at a time. the scoring is based on points and yards for and against. team values fluctuate throughout the season. You get a set amount of trades as well. If anybody is interested let me know, i'll create a league.

Cleve: go ahead and create one, or I'll do it if you don't have time. We should create it and establish whether people can buy trades at the beginning, etc. or not. It's pretty low maintainence, so I think a lot of people would play.

EDIT: Never mind, I just set one up.

Go to the link above, and create your team. WHen it asks you to join a league:

League name: BPCFL

password (if necessary): carrisaweenie

I don't know that there is a limit for custom leagues, but I know there can be at least 20 in SN leagues, so hopefully we can get a least that many.

FC,

Yeah, everyone can have the OSU anything they want. Since there are so many combinations and permutations of 4 and 4, you can buy any teams you want. The one thing I don't quite get yet (guess I have to read the rules) is if you can have the same offense and defense, or if you have to use, say, the OSU offense OR defense for a week. Guess I'll read it and find out.

But yes, there is no "draft" of teams where 1 owner=1 team, which is nice.

Bucklion,
thanks for setting up the league.

you cannot hold the offense & defense of one team at the same time, you must choose one or the other. you can, however, switch between using the offense and the defense of the same team without it counting as a "trade."

speaking of trades, are we pretty much in agreement that nobody can buy extra trades? i think that's the most fair way to do it.

Cleve,

Thanks for the info...and yes, I think the "no-buy" trade clause should definitely be in effect. Now, I believe you start with a set amount of trades at the beginning of the season, so everyone ought to think about how to use them wisely. They are unlimited until the start of the season, however.
