If we get Lenix, who is a OLB/S combo, then I think we only take one more safety in this class. Remember, O'neal is a corner/safety combo player, and Lenix is a linebacker/safety combo player. So no more than one more safety in this class is needed (with Whitner, Salley, Everett, Mitchell, Welch, and Patterson back).

I think it's the first to commit between Rowell, Anderson, and Sledge.

I think Sean Smalls commits as a cornerback/receiver in this class. Our DB class could look like this...

CB - Malcolm Jenkins
CB/WR - Andre Amos
CB/WR - Sean Smalls
CB/S - Jamario O'neal
S/OLB - Freddie Lenix
S - Eric Sledge (or Rowell, or Russell)

6 guys, but plenty of them can play other positions. Even Sledge can play receiver. It seems the staff likes getting those physical defensive backs that can also play receiver. That makes them know the fundamentals of both the receiver and defensive back better, so they can easily exploit matchups whenever they are in the game going against their opponent.

physical dbs specifically safties is where things are headed. especailly in the nfl, a reason salley could be sitting on a gold mine. in the nfl they need guys like sean taylor, reed to match up with shockey, gonzalez, etc. they need db speed and lb size. this is where things are going in college to. with guys like benny troupe in watson, winslow, in the past few years things are changing quick

Rowell really enjoyed his WVU official visit and said they are going to be "hard to compete with." He was hosted by Ohio freshman RB Pernell Williams. Their safeties coach also is from Ohio, right near where Rowell lives and he really likes him. He thought about committing but will take a few more visits. The Mountaineers lead.

He knows alot of players at tOSU- David Patterson is like a big brother (same High school).

Rowell takes his ACT again on Sat. and hopes to improve upon his last score (of 15). His tOSU schollie is contingent on his score improvement.

WVU and tOSU are co-favorites and will compete until the end for his commitment (assuming he gets a qualifying score). He still needs to take his tOSU official while he just took his WVU official this past weekend.

after saying WVU was his favorite after visiting "the game" i figured he was theres to lose..O well lets focus on Freddie and Alex

His offer was contigent upon receiving a qualifying test score. My guess would be he either didn't get the score he needed or his scholie was no longer available because we're running out of openings. Regardless, good luck to him at West Virginia.

Rowell is hardly a solid verbal to WVU, mostly because of an in-home visit by Kirk Ferentz. Tucker told Rowell's coach to call him when Rowell got his latest test scores, although he seems more interested in the schools that want him regardless of his test scores. He is tight with David Patterson, so he would entertain an official to OSU if OSU offered to host him.

Seems like he may still end up at WVU...or Iowa if they can snatch him away.

Rowell is set to sign with Iowa. He credits the "loyalty" of the Iowa staff as one of the reasons why he signed. He is taking the ACT again this week just to be safe. Chris says he is dedicated to getting a good education while at Iowa, regardless of whether the pros is an option or not.
