2008 tOSU QB discussion (official thread)

02Buckeyes06

DA SHOE
Lets say T. Pryor becomes a BUCKEYE. We all know what he brings to the table, and the weapons that he will have around him. So would it be.....

Boeckman or Pryor.....

I cant help but remember the Zwick and Smith QB issue. I do like Boeckman dont get me wrong, however there was a big difference from the first and second part of the season with him. I dont want to come off as a a$$, however with a guy like Pryor and possibly only having him for 3 years, I say with what we have in offense coming back next year, just think about the possibilities....... Beanie, Robo, Hartline, Saine, Small, Posey, and then throw in Pryor WOW.....................Look at the NC game with our recievers being locked up most of the night, If we have a duel threat QB unlike Boeckman possibilities are endless.

So if you had a chance to start one of these QBs by midseason who would it be??

Boeckman (assuming Henton doesn't win the job), but Pryor should definitely take some snaps in the game. He and Boeckman should also both be on the field at times.

I only assumed that Henton doesn't win the job for the sake of discussion.

Boeckman will never QB this team to a National Title. If you want to see the Buckeyes win a title we have to go somewhere else at QB.

Boeckman doesn't have the anticipation needed to play QB against the best competition... he doesn't throw the ball UNTIL guys are open... the ball needs to be out BEFORE they are open...

I don't know if Pryor, or Henton, or anyone else is the answer... but Boeckman isn't.

People calling for Boeckman's removal as a starter are way over reacting to the end of the season and need better perspective on a first year QB.
It should be obvious to all that with proper protection from the offensive line he is plenty accurate enough to get the job done.

Boeckman has all the tools to be a big time QB.
He's smart. He's mature.
He has a fine arm.
Boeckman, like any QB, needs his line to give him time.
And his receivers to separate from coverage.

Early in the season I would have agreed. Late in the season, not so much. He developed happy feet plain and simple, also I didn't see a very good pocket presence. He just seemed to have no sense of when to get rid of the ball.

Hopefully a lot of that will go away with the experience he gained this year and he is a solid SR starting QB for us. If those areas don't improve and he continues to turn the ball over its only fair to the team to see if someone else can get the job done. Better seperation by his WR's sure as hell can't hurt.

As far as the specualtion on Pryor(if he even comes to OSU), Henton and Bauserman goes I'll trust the coaches. None of us have a clue.

What has Henton or Pryor done to make any believe they could take the place of a QB who made one All Big Ten team and actually had some Heisman talk at one point?
Where is the logic in that? :smash:

But the thing is, that was boeckmans first year starting, right?? he was learning for 2 years?? what makes you think Henton wouldnt be able to do the same his first year after learning for more than 1, pryor maybe not, but i really think he could do it.

and those heisman talks came before he played wisconsin, illinois, michigan, and lsu!! And what did Boeckman do last year(before he played a game) that made people believe he could take over for a qb who made the all big ten team??
