Mack Brown confirms commitment to Florida while on visit
12:17 am July 25, 2009, by Chip Towers

The answer came in two tiny words on a text message.
"Yes sir," Mack Brown wrote.

His response was to the question, "Did you commit to Florida tonight"?
And indeed he did. That was the word from Brown, generally considered the
top running back in the state, just a few minutes before midnight Friday. I
got the exact same reply a few minutes earlier from his coach at Martin
Luther King High, Corey Jarvis.

Don't you have some kind of crazy cajun antics to worry about? Like whether or not you have enough Crocodile to eat for the family cookout.

I don't know if they have crocs in the bayou. But I think they're looking to roast some Gators around October 10th.

But is made SEC Media Days focus on Tebow and his accomplishments when questioning every other SEC coach there, so who knows...
I do not think Spurrier in any way would dis Tebow.

Agreed. And on a semi-related note - the SEC media days are quickly approaching Super Bowl media day in terms of terrible behavior by journalists and god awful questions.

We crowd a little over 90 now. No plans to expand as far as I know. Foley has said he does not want to spend big $$$ to build "cheaper seats." Supply and demand gets us more $$ from athletic foundation charges for the right to buy tix. More seats might lessen the several grand fee demand. Plus, we'd have to move Alligator Alley, which is an Historic Landmark.

I do not see it. Look at the Vols-in-tears. Big stadium and what does it get 'em? When we beat Lame in September we will take the overall series lead this year,

Agreed. Although Neyland is desperately in need of a facilities upgrade in terms of concession areas and bathroom situations.

Tony Gerdeman has an excellent article expressing concerns about the partnership between the SEC and ESPN.

I've got the same concerns - ESPN will use it's reach to hype the SEC even more so, and talk down the members of other leagues (how Mark May will survive without being able to heap endless praise on Southern California will be worth watching).

...

Last year, ESPN and the SEC signed a $2.25 billion contract for television rights over the next fifteen years and that agreement starts this season. And if you think ESPN dodging stories when there is only a middling connection between entities is shady, what happens when there are stories of a similar nature with the SEC?

Do you think ESPN will be gung ho to deliver the bad news about the conference that they're in bed with? And I'm not talking "in bed" like Ricky and Lucy. I'm talking "in bed" like Eight Is Enough.

Now this being the SEC, ESPN is not going to be able to hide all of the bad news, simply because there's so much of it down there. But just don't expect "Outside The Lines" to be doing a story that could put the SEC in any detrimental position.

ESPN is going to do the same thing for the SEC that they tried doing for Roethlisberger--shape perception or ignore it all together.

Cont'd ...

Considering before last year they never ventured out of SEC territory, I'm guessing it's a pretty short list.

Quite true! However - I think the blog was referring to rankings. I was too young to remember some of the badass Clemson teams (not a joke - they did exhist) that used to play Georgia when Vince Dooley was HC and I know that they opened up with some Texas AM teams in the early 90s that were pretty competative.
