2010-2011 Men's Basketball (Outright Big Ten & BTT Champs)

My guess is that when he says Florida (18, 2) he means we're the biggest defeat they have by two points, ie, Florida's second largest defeat was by 16 points. Likewise, Oakland's (25, 5) second-biggest defeat would be 20 points.

That's a good guess, because he defined the second # as such, rather than simply saying it was the opponent's second worst margin of defeat.

Admittedly, it took me a closer read to determine that, since I was expecting the second number to be the 20, rather than the 5, using your example.

Thanks guys. Now that I've went back and read it again, I see where he states the second number is actually the difference between OSU's margin and the 2nd worst margin. I guess like BB73, I was assuming the second number would be the actual margin and not the difference and didn't read the text close enough. My apologies Buckguy.

teams suffering worst loss of season at the hands of ohio state

team (osu's margin of victory, difference between osu's margin of victory and margin of victory of second-worst loss of season)

florida (18 , 2)
unc-w (40, 12)
morehead state (19, 3)
unc-a (47, 23)
oakland (25, 5)
purdue (23, 5)
illinois (19, 1)
:wisc: (28, 20)
ut-sa (29, 5)

Nice stats. What's also impressive is that all of those are NCAA Tournament teams except for UNCW. You should email this to Gus Johnson. He'll love it.

FWIW, George Mason's worst loss was by 16 to VCU in the CAA tournament. They are also responsible for UNCW's second worst loss (28).

Diploma delay

Ohio State has five seniors on its roster and four are scheduled to graduate Sunday. The only problem is the Buckeyes will be playing their third-round game against George Mason two hours from campus in Cleveland.

Lighty (consumer affairs), Diebler (business marketing), Dallas Lauderdale (strategic communications) and Nikola Kecman (aviation management) were slated to go through graduation ceremonies this weekend. Eddie Days, the other senior, is expected to earn his family financial services diploma following the spring quarter.

?All four of our seniors graduated and it?s in the books, but I don?t think we?re going to be able to get those guys back and get it,? Matta said. ?As I said earlier in the week, I hoped they were going to get their diplomas by mail this year.

?But I?m proud of the fact that all four have graduated. That?s gratifying and exciting to me.?

If the highest seeds win out, our remaining tournament games would go:

Sweet 16: Kentucky
Great 8: North Carolina
Semifinals: Duke
Finals: Kansas

Talk about a run through the four most legendary programs in college basketball. :yow1: Winning a championship with those notches on the trophy announces that a program has indeed arrived.

I doubt that any team has ever beaten those four schools in the same tournament before.

Look out in the southeast bracket. Florida could be gathering some strength and possibly end up in the final four. There could be some big upsets down
in that bracket. Butler could knock off Wiscky, VCU could surprise Florida St.
And is Kansas that good? Dunno.

Truly.
Scary on one hand, but I'm glad we won't see another 'slow-down' game. Also I don't want to play another Big 10 team. It's hard to repeatedly beat your conference rivals IMO.:oh:

Defense will win out!

Might as well play the best at this point!. Talking heads in media are missing the basic ingredient of this team-Defense. While I know we have to take one game at a time, it is hard to "look past" each one. Kentucky wiht 8 losses does not scare me!

Well, no UCLA but still extremely impressive. Their program is a wee bit legendary as well.
