Game Thread 2010 Rose Bowl: Ohio State 26 Oregon 17 (Final, 1/01/2010)

I truly believed after watching the Ducks against Arizona and Oregon State this year that they would be too explosive for the Buckeyes secondary.

If you couldn't tell the difference between Ohio State's defense and Arizona or Oregon State's you "see" football, but you have no idea what you're watching. :shake:

I didnt even think that could be reviewed...once he is ruled down on the field, I thought it was a done deal.

I'm finally going through the Rose Bowl thread. This comment was about the kickoff return by Oregon late in the first half.

The NCAA changed the rule for reviewing fumbles before the 2008 season, which would have allowed this play to be reviewed, as long as the recovery of the ball was "in the immediate action following the fumble":

Link

Ball Carrier Ruled Down (Rule 12-3-3-b). When a ball carrier is judged down by rule and the ball is fumbled, the play may be reviewed if the recovery of the ball occurs in the immediate action following the fumble and is prior to any official signaling that the ball is dead. However, if the replay official does not have indisputable video evidence as to which player recovers the fumble, the ruling of down-by-rule stands. If the call of down-by-rule is reversed, the ball belongs to the recovering player at the spot of the recovery and no advance is allowed.

I think the replay showed that the Duck's leg and/or ass was down before he fumbled anyway. The replay booth may have taken a quick look at it and decided that they didn't need to stop play.

Got the DVD today and just watched the first quarter. The games awesomeness aside, I expected more in terms of picture quality. It just doesn't look very good. I'll guess I'll be downloading the first HD version I see at my favorite tracker.

after its all said and done we have now been accused of stealing signals from the ducks during the rose bowl

Did Buckeyes steal signals in Rose Bowl? - Big Ten Blog - ESPN

Ohio State was so successful at stopping Oregon?s offense in its 26-17 win over the Ducks in the Rose Bowl that, at times, it seemed as if the Buckeyes knew what was coming.

Did they?

?There were a couple times last year when we kind of felt like our signals were, maybe, compromised,?? offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich said.

they stole the signal that said "drop the ball and kick it into the endzone". you see....the actual play there was to have an offensive lineman fall on the ball in the endzone, but we stole that signal and blocked all of their players and allowed it to just roll out of bounds.

fucking cheaters.
