2010 TSUN offseason arguments & shenanigans

Stadium & Main discussion on RR's recruiting strategy:
Scout.com: Interesting recruiting factoid

I thought I'd archive this post here.
Michigan 10 class

03 - headline recruits - Gardner, Robinson, Miller
04 - wins over BCS powerhouses - White, Christian, Hagerup, Furman
04 - win over next tier, Big East, Neb, ATM - Hopkins, Ash**, Wilkins, Rogers
13 - UM was only elite offer - Avery, Jones, Pace, Talbott, Paskorz, Johnson, Drake, Kinard, Dileo, Vinopal, Ryan, Williamson
01 - not involved in count* - Jackson

30% BCS powerhouse
70% sleepers / next tier offer sheet
56% BCS powerhouse
44% sleepers / next tier offer sheet

Ohio State 10 class (hyde not counted again)

02 - headline recruits - Norwell, Turner
06 - wins over BCS powerhouses - McVey, Smith, Brown, Louis, Baldwin, Hankins, Hagan***
02 - win over next tier - Graham, Roby
05 - OSU was only elite offer - Williams, Moore, Basil, Reed, Durham
* - Jackson claimed UF, LSU offers but was never interviewed by any of their sites. Some questions about whether he held those offers.
** - Ash listed big offers but tripped to rutgers, wvu instead. USC & LSU did not have offers to Ash in the fall (whether withdrawn or never fully extended originally).
*** - Hagan was a win over UM, but had he remained uncommitted he would've been dropped due to health concerns
Michigan 09 class

02 - headline recruits - Turner, Campbell
11 - wins over BCS powerhouses - Roh, Schofield, Forcier, LaLota, Robinson, Stokes, Lewan, Washington, Hawthorne, Jones, Smith,
01 - win over next tier - Emilien*
07 - UM was only elite offer - Gibbons, Teric, Gallon, Bell, Fitz, Gordon, Gordon, Witty

62% BCS powerhouse
38% sleepers / next tier offer sheet

* - Emilien was dropped/slowplayed by OSU.

TSUN must be using some some selective information when defing its "factoids" i.e. TSUN Factoid equates to a partial fact!
Please note--Under the "factoid" category "only elite offer" for tOSU recruits:
Williams had offers from Big East (Cincy, WVU), Basil from Cincy, Purdue, and Kentucky, Durham from Va, WVU, and Reed from BE Syracuse.
Moore (4 star) committed early, closed recruiting before elite offers were given.
A case could also be made that Graham (Duke, Iowa, MSU, UCLA, Wisky) and Roby (Auburn, South Carolina, Vandy, Wake Forest) were not "next tier win."
Fact: (not factoid) tOSU recruits should be listed as:

04--Headline recruits (Top 100 somewhere): Norwell, Turner, Smith, Louis.
09--Wins over BCS powerhouse: McVey, Brown, Baldwin, Hankins, Hagan, Graham, Roby, Moore, Hyde.
04--Wins over next tier: Williams, Basil, Durham, Reed.
00--tOSU was only elite offer.

77% BCS Powerhouse
23% Sleepers, next tier offer sheet.

Factoid vs. Fact rant over.

are you guys kidding!? dick rod is clearly showing the prestige and glory of tsun football through his recruiting efforts, when a kid has an offer from Buffalo, Bowling Green and tsun, he chooses to head north every time! if that is not an indication of the greatness of tsun football I don't know what is!

How does "loss to Tulsa for a QB we wanted" factor into their rankings?

I'm assuming because it was last year they just put it into the "Carr left the cupboard bare" pile?

Oh, for sure.... I mean, imagine what kind of kids he's gonna get when he turns scUM in to a winner. :shake:

You try recruiting when your team is 3-9. It's amazing what Dick's been able to do with that kind of record. :roll2:

Discussing tsun recruiting is pointless. If you gave RR the Steelers roster, he'd have them playing like the Rams in a week, like Alabama in two weeks, like Oregon in 3 weeks and right back to the 1-7 tsun we know and love in a month.
