Ohio State's Big Weekend: Over Fifteen Top Recruits Set to Visit Columbus - Along the Olentangy

As the Ohio State men's basketball team battles the Indiana Hoosiers on the court of Value City Arena this Sunday, the Ohio State football coaching staff will be wooing some of the best Midwestern high school football talent in the stands. February 27th kicks off Ohio State' s second Junior Day of the year-- the first was on January 15th-- and there will be eighteen top 2012 prospects, mostly from Ohio, spending their first extensive time on campus and meeting with the coaches. Junior Days are scheduled to coincide with home basketball games to provide an entertainment factor for recruits and to simulate gameday environments as closely as allowed by the NCAA rulebook.

This Junior Day will be the biggest and most important of any that Ohio State hosts this year, with eight of the eighteen juniors scheduled to attend already holding Ohio State offers. Out of the remaining ten, there are a few who are likely to receive their offers in person from Jim Tressel. As you can imagine, receiving a scholarship offer from one of the icons of college football in the flesh can be a powerful moment for many of these athletes, especially those who have grown up Ohio State fans. The Buckeye coaching staff sometimes waits for intimate moments like Junior Days to deliver the offer to a recruit in person, setting up emotional and personal moments that are impossible to replicate over the phone.

During the past two weekends, there might not be a school in the country that has entertained as many top prospects as Ohio State.

Coach Jim Tressel and his staff are now gearing up for a third.

Roughly 15 to 20 recruits have attended each of the Buckeyes scrimmages the last two Saturdays, and this weekend there will be another good turnout for the program?s spring game.

Five players tabbed inside the Top247 in Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech cornerback Terry Richardson, Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's linebacker James Ross, Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville safety De'van Bogard, Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban defensive end Greg McMullen and Canton (Ohio) McKinley outside linebacker Se'von Pittman are all confirmed visitors to Columbus this weekend. As Saturday gets closer, expect the list of elite prospects to grow.

Doing my best to keep up with updating this thread...a couple of guys like Diggs, Jones and Winston have hinted at possible visit dates but nothing concrete yet. UFM was pushing Diggs to visit this weekend so we'll see if that happens...
