2011 SEC Football Discussion

We think that playing FSU every year (despite a brief recent suckage, they have that un-Godly string of top 5 rankings) - despite it being in- state - is as prestigious as playing some schmo just because they hail from a different state.

So when I point out that the SEC as a whole avoids leaving region, you get specific and act like my point is invalid?

How many games has Georgia played outside the SE in fifty years?

I get that LSU is the exception, but not leaving the SE is the general rule in the SEC.

That doesn't make their schedule easy. Just some perspective.

I'm way too lazy to look up other schools.

Off the top of my head, Arky, Auburn, and Tennesee have all had trips out west recently.

In that 90s period when the last game with FSU usually had huge bowl or MNC implications for at least one of us, they were always ranked at the top.

They had a joke of an ACC schedule and Miami and UF to play, that is tue - it is easy to "get up" for two or three games a year - but beating them was hard enough that Bowden had a winning record versus Spurrier.

SOS beat them for a Bowl Alliance Championship in Jan of 97 thanks to tOSU - which I think punks the overall record...but little cars, inflatable shoes and clown noses aside, they had some ballers back in the day - especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Here's a pretty cool older picture of Carl Lewis winning an indoor event in qualifying for the 1984 games in LA.

Guy on the far right looks familiar.
