2013 Out-of-state players to watch

I live in the Pittsburgh area and there are three elite players here for next season. I think most people here think WR Robert Foster is No.1, OG Patrick Kugler is No.2, and Clairton WR Tyler Boyd is No. 4. It looks like No. 3 right now is the TE from the other side of the state, Adam Brenaman. And I hate to say it but I think Foster, Kugler, and Boyd are all going to end up at Pitt. Foster is close friends with Rushel Shell and his cousin is Pitt's starting linebacker Todd Thomas, who was a 4-star player himself and was only a redshirt freshman (and as a side not was once the bitter high school rival of Terrelle Pryor). Kugler's best friend is his team's QB and that kid's dad is Pitt's OL coach. Apparently Kugler and the OL coach know each other very well from hanging out with his son. And Boyd when to Clairton which currently has one of the best Class A teams ever in the state and Pitt already has three Clairton players over the past few years. All three of the 2013 kids have practically lived at Pitt and are all practically part of the team. That's the tough part in recruiting very provincial places like western PA. Usually they just want to stay with the guys they know. At least if the coach there can recruit and it appears that Todd Graham and his staff has some good recruiters.

Thought I see what you're saying about football can be provincial, great recruiting trumps that a lot of times in college football. There were a number of players that great coaches like urban Meyer have been able to pull from states further away than pa when he was in Florida. An elite kid will always weigh his options and look at the school that will put him in the best position to win, have a chance for early PT and/or get to the NFL. These kids are all smart, and they know they can stay home and play in front of family or go a couple hours away and still get to play in front of family but this time it would be for conference titles, and not just being happy playing in the backyard brawl. Play for national championships or play in the insight and humanitarian bowls. There's a lot of time left to recruit, and if coach urban has shown us anything so far, is that when he calls, kids listen in a major way
