2013 Schedule Discussion (Official Thread)

Given that we getting two straight undefeated seasons is ridiculously difficult, and given that we are replacing 6 out of our defensive front-7, I feel like we will end up losing 2 this season. Given our recruiting, we might be able to fill all positions of need along the DL, but we need 2 players to step up for SAM and MIKE. Scary times at the LB-U.

This defense; with the PT that Spence, Washington, Schutt, Bennett and Hale have had - will be better than many expect. Especially the front 4.

That's just  talk. I have no idea which 2 you are talking about but get in contact with me next Fall and show me the money:)
I'll take that bet.

Obviously we're going to be favored in every game. It is difficult to get yourself up and prepare for every game the same way when you're the favorite all the time. That's why upsets happen. And that is what I am talking about.

I agree. Not having a single senior in your entire front seven is a genuine handicap. But we are rife with talent and will have a secondary that will be as good as any in the country.

With this schedule and the offensive weapons we will have, two losses is extremely pessimistic. Wisky early could be a test - but they are at our house with a new coach of their own. Our next real test would be Michigan - and by then experience is no longer an issue.

As for the rest of the schedule, our D might have a bad game here or there, but we are going to put up some serious points. It is last years Offense with a vertical threat - three new players who will be the fastest on the team.

As I stare endlessly at the schedule a couple of things stand out to me. I'm very thankful that Indiana gave us the game they did this past season. It will be much harder to not take them seriously the week before scUM. Wilson seems to have got his team buying into his system, and had a pretty decent recruiting class this year. I don't believe he's thinking that just staying out of the BIG cellar is a win for IU anymore. If this team learns to win close games they might be pretty tough.

I also think that Bye might come to town at 2 very good times for this team. Nice chance for any guys that might get dinged up. Nice chance to add some wrinkles throughout the season.

The B10 Championship game will help us. It will be another ranked team. Hopefully it will be a top 10 team. Michigan,Wisconsin, and NW will be ranked at some point of the season. SDSU will likely make a bowl game. Buffalo did not have a good record last year but lost multiple heartbreakers and will likely win 8-9 games next year.

Iowa is a wildcard. If they can get a serviceable QB they might be able to get ranked. Indiana plays Mizzou IIRC and if they can beat Mizzou and go undefeated in their OOC games who knows. Hazell at Purdue is a major coaching upgrade...

Figured this may be one of the best place for this, we may see more night games this season or 2014 then we ever have at OSU

Here's big one for fans: If schools want to play primetime games in November, B1G won't stand in their way. Coaches want more night games

So how long til OSU plays Mich at night?

Before you shoot me, I'm not for it, but Urban is hell bent on playing night games cause he knows it's huge for recruiting and he hates noon games with a passion

I think (hope?) that Urban cares more about the tradition of The Game than playing at night.

Other than that though, bring them on. I love night games!

I personally believe it's gonna happen within the next few years whether we like it or not, times are changing

well, I do think it's a bit skewed as almost all other big time SEC programs do that as well

which is one reason why they are successful IMO, people tune into night games, recruits love atmosphere of night games, it's always a great success

Bama had 1 Noon game last season against Western Carolina, every other team was 3:30 or later
