Those 'big boy' schools aren't scheduled at the beginning of the year. Cal was scheduled years ago when they were knocking off USC, etc.

FAMU is known (rather notoriously as late) for their marching band, not so much their football team. Think of it as matching up with Stanford in a "battle of the bands" way.

USC and Texas weren't exactly juggernauts last year. To play Bama this year, tOSU would have had to schedule them around 2004. They were 6-6 that year with no return to glory imminent.

Shit happens when your opponent on that date pulls out of the agreement short-notice. FAMU is a low-risk prep-game leading into the Wisconsin game. And as was previously mentioned, Cal was a top-notch top team when we scheduled them...you can't predict where a team will be on game day when you schedule them 6-10 years in advance.

Correct. Ink dried on FAMUs payday in 2011. SDSU was added last October.

I am disappointed in our schedule. We don't have a tier one school in our non-conference schedule. I would of liked to see a USC, Texas, Alabama, etc. type team in there. We need to challenge ourselves, and play the big boy ball.

Two quick thoughts-

1) FAMU ain't bringing the band, per an announcement today. What was the freaking point in that game then??? Should have been a showcase of the two best bands in the country.

2) Don't sleep on Cal. Our "question mark" this season is our defense, and Sonny Dykes has never had a problem putting points on the board in bunches.
