2014 FIFA World Cup - Brazil

I confess to enjoying this World Cup more than the previous three. Maybe it's because I understand the game better, but I think I saw a difference in the level of play - much more physical this time, not as much flopping and acting - because the French and the Italians were out early? Maybe it was just because those damn vivuzilas weren't blaring over everything - JHC, what a bad decision that was to allow them into the stadiums - I continued to be amazed at the ability to control the ball using just your feet. I'd find a way to get more scoring into the game, make the goal higher or wider or both. 0 - 0 just isn't my idea of fun and excitement. But most of all, why can't they use a scoreboard clock to keep the official time. Stop it during injuries and time-outs. especially when they went into extra time and you had to mentally add 3 minutes from one half to 4 minutes from the other to 15 for one extra time and 15 for the other. Give it a break. It's the 21st Century, they have machines that can do that sort of thing. Oh, and get more than one set of eyes out there calling fouls.

Anyway, I'd like to hear what the local BP futbol mavens have to say about these matters.

There was about 5 minutes of TV coverage as the German players waited on the field until the trophy ceremony. Their wives and girlfriends joined them for some air time.

It was glorious.

WOW! The German babes were absolutely to drool over, and the crazy thing is that their players are all a bunch of ugly mutherfuckers, and Gotze may be the ugliest of them all!

If I'm a young dude at any corner of the world, I'm working to make myself the best soccer player in the world, then gaining citizenship in Germany. Those babes were definately the pots of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Peace

McDonald's GOL! FIFA World Cup - Brasil 2014

Adorable kids, a woman in stiletto heels, and an elderly man in a motorized all can’t help but catch the futbol fever sweeping the world right now, showcasing some spectacular stunts (seriously, how many takes did it take to land that shot in the back of a moving truck?) in a quirky FIFA-themed ad from the marketers under the Golden Arches.

I didn't know that......

The world cup trophy is actually 13.61 pounds of 75 percent pure 18-karat gold and worth about $10M.

Also, each winner since 1974 has had its name engraved on the base of the real trophy. After Germany gets its engraving, there’s only room for three more names. It’s unknown what FIFA will do after it runs out of space in 2030 on what will be the 100th anniversary of the tournament.

Some history of the world cup being stolen for the gold.....

FIFA to make statement on inquiry into World Cup bidding process

FIFA announced on Twitter that their ethics committee will release a statement on Thursday regarding the inquiry into the World Cup bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 tournaments.

The statement will be posted to FIFA.com.

Reports say that the inquiry did not find sufficient reason to strip Qatar of the 2022 World Cup.

According to The Guardian, the ethics committee report did not find a "smoking gun" that links the behavior of the Qatari former Asian Football Confederation president, who was later banned for life for bribery, with the Qatar 2022 bid.

The Guardian also went on to say that "the "plague on all their houses" nature of the summary makes it even less likely that the investigation will lead to either Russia or Qatar being stripped of the tournament."

In October, the judge who will rule on the investigation into World Cup bidding said the full report on the investigation would not be published, despite numerous figures in football calling for it to be made public.

Be honest now, can anyone think of any governing body over a sport that is more corrupt and dishonest than FIFA?

I honestly think the NCAA basically has good intentions; but is just incompetent, inept, and/or incapable at doing their job, i.e. not necessarily corrupt and/or dishonest. But I could agree with:
1a. FIFA
1b. IOC
2. Every boxing federation
They try way too hard to protect their tax exempt status to maximize their profits. They're more than just incompetent.
