2014 NCAA Basketball Tournament (official thread)

watching some of the fab 5 games on youtube i thought that they were much better team players and passers than any of cal's nba/college teams...rose, webber, and howard were NBA vets wich is the mark of a great basketball player...athleticism doesn't last forever...

but i give kentucky credit, they made some clutch shots that champion teams make..

I thought the opposite. The UM team when they were freshmen was not very good at handling the ball against pressure defense, Jalen Rose was their only ballhandler and he wasn't that good at it, which is why OSU was able to put a run on them with their press and partly why Duke blew their doors off. They relied heavily on the athleticism of Webber inside.

First title game I haven't watched in years. I think the year Maryland won is the last I passed on.

I skipped the last two. Kentucky-Kansas entirely, last year I checked in at the end when I heard scUM was losing. I actually watched the first half of this one.

Maybe, but I had literally zero interest in it.
I forgot the game was last night until my wife asked me at 10:30 if I was going to watch the game... turned it on around 11 when the game was almost over, saw UConn go up by 6 or 8 then went to bed.

After this title UConn needs to be thought of as one of the blue-bloods of college basketball... 4 championships in 16 years, only one less than Kentucky, Duke and North Carolina combined since 1999. They have a very good and likable coach in Ollie.

The only positives from this year's tournament:
1. tsun didn't get back to the Final Four
2. Kentucky didn't win the title
3. No all-SEC final

This was a totally forgettable tournament for me... bring on 2014-15.

Just this morning, after Shabazz Napier said "This is what happens when you ban us," I started to think about Al Pacino's rant in "Scent of a Woman". Just replace the names (with Mark Emmert and NCAA)...

..."and Harry, Jimmy, Trent, wherever you are, F*ck you too."

I actually thought basketball wise this was a very exciting tournament; lots of upsets and unpredictability, which I enjoy. A 7 and an 8 seed in the Finals which busts brackets but still includes two blue blood programs.

Lots, and lots of suspenseful endings - one of the best tourneys in recent memory IMO.
