2015-2016 Ohio State Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

I don't know why I get the feeling that Coach Matta is retiring, but I don't know why the athletic department would wait to announce it (perhaps after next Monday).

With this many transfers, it's almost like a new coach cleaning house.

It does indeed - like he didn't or wouldn't say he would be here and the players who came here to be coached by him are hitting the eject button early....

Kinda seems like the sky is falling a bit here...

Maybe Coach Matta finally said, "I'm going to stop F'ing around," and fix this boat come heck or high water? Similar to Coach Meyer when he got here and he had see who wanted to be here.

Or Coach Matta could be retiring.

There are multiple things that need to be fixed with the program from Strength, Player Development, getting someone like Mark Pantoni and Assistant Coaches.

I think Matta can fix all of those things (if he wants to).

Matta should still be able to formulate a plan to fix everything and get the time needed to put it into place (~2-4 years to rebuild the coaching staff, get the recruiting back, get a new training program into place). The problem is I don't think the fanbase quite understands the cliff this program is about to fall off of simply because of how successful he's been....

The only problem with that tweet is that I do not know if I would call Giddens a "mediocre" player. I think he would have seen considerable playing time next season if he had developed a little more offensively. Maybe he missed the peaches and pecans. Mitchell, on the other hand, is not that big of a loss IMO and I am still waiting on confirmation regarding Harris.

I doubt Giddens would have seen much more playing time with Thompson still being ahead of him and Potter and Funderburke coming in, which are both more developed offensively. Giddens chance at the NBA is at PF, but Matta won't play a 4 that can't shoot the 3, and Giddens can't make a jumpshot at any range.

My post had nothing to do with grammar, but your typical off-the-topic reply was par for the course. First this thread became about Urban v Tressel. My attempt to steer it back on course somehow became about you.

Lighten up, Grammar Man. :streetball:

Back to the issue at hand, I'm very concerned. Not to the point of demanding a change in coaching staff, but to the point where I expect the coach to address the reasons behind the recent mass exodus from his program and what he plans to do to change things.
