2015 CFB Week 1 Open Thread

WTF is Michigan State doing opening AT Western Michigan? Purdue at Marshall? I can at least understand Penn State traveling to Philly to play Temple as a recruiting trip... but guys, you're the big boys from the big conference. The little guys come to play at your house.
You just put Purdue and "you're the big boys from the big conference" in the same post.

BTN's Taylor Rooks is just amazing looking! View attachment 11394
I just have to watch when she's on.
Young woman is put together pretty well. Almost well enough for me to forget Holly Sonders.

Well, OK, maybe not quite enough to make me forget Holly Sonders.

Purdue isn't a big boy....and Marshall was nationally ranked last year and is almost certainly a better team right now.

If Sparty wasn't playing Oregon in week 2, I'd agree with you. As it is, Western M*ch*gan isn't a bad team either, MAC team or not. They were probably the 2nd best team in the entire state behind Sparty last year....

Not disagreeing with you, but you don't see Auburn signing up to play @NESW Louisiana. Tennessee doesn't travel to Chattanooga. If Alabama were to take the chance of losing to Memphis State they sure as hell wouldn't also concede the parking and food concession money. Perception is important and when you're getting the kind of revenue flow BTN provides you ought to be acting like a Big Boy or find another playground to hang out. The kind of shit that is going down at Purdue and Illinois should be considered insulting to the other conference members.

First off - if anyone is judging the B1G by what Purdue and Illinois are doing, they're a fucking moron from the start and not worth considering.

Secondly....all of those teams certainly play cupcakes - you could say Purdue is the cupcake for Marshall....

And when it comes to said cupcake, at least Sparty scheduled a semi-competent team....and not in November like what all of Auburn, Alabama and Tennesse are doing this year...

Auburn plays Jacksonville State ( :slappy: ) and San Jose State AND Idaho. None of those teams are better than Sparty playing Western Michigan.

Alabama plays Lousiana-Monroe, Middle Tennessee and Charleston Southern. Not exactly a murderers row there...

Tennecheat plays Bowling Green (who likely would have beaten them 2 years ago), Western Carolina and North Texas.

At least Purdue is going to lose on the road instead of in their own home stadium, to a likely bowl team and a team that is likely going to be nationally ranked in the upper teens or 20s again this year. That's a far cry from Mizzou losing to Indiana at home last year or the year that Louisiana Monroe beat Saban in Tuscaloosa...

You're making a mountain out of a molehill. This isn't Ohio State going to fucking Montgomery Alabama to play Alabama State...Purdue might win 2 games this year if they're lucky. Anyone judging the B1G by the shittiest power 5 team there is needs to remove themselves from the gene pool immediately.

Jesus, did everyone go all Notre Dame here? its not like they're signing 1 and 1s like we do with Oklahoma. These are mostly middling B1G teams signing 2 and 1s or 3 and 1s most likely. If they want to play better mid-majors and not FCS, they will likely have to do that.

You're missing the point. Yeah Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Ol Miss and Misstate schedule kiddies - and they do it late in the season. That's not the point - the point is they don't go to NSEW Louisiana's home field to play the games.

Thanks to BTN, Purdue and Illinois can't use revenue stream as an excuse for the on field product and they shouldn't sign up to play in the football equivalent of the wading pool or the bunny slope.
