2016 CFB Week 5 Open Thread

plus with both Stanford starting CB's out for the game will Wash try to attack them through the air?

I'd assume so. I havent actually seen Washington play. Their QB Browning is completing 70% with 14 TD and 2 INT, though they havent really played a good defense (Rutgers and Arizona being the "best") so no clue on the actual ability of the passing attack. This has to be about the biggest game Washington has played in over a decade though.

Wisconsin's running game will have to be at full strength Saturday. Lost in a masterful defensive performance and Hornibrook's promising play is that the running game has not looked particularly good. I'm not panicking. They were not at full strength on the line. Clement is still not healthy and Shaw/Deal bring a lot to the offense. That was about as much as anyone can expect against a defense like MSU. Unless they expect to score a TD on a fumble return, get the ball in the red zone from an INT and have their punter drop the snap inside the 10, UW is going to have to run the ball a lot better than they have so far. I realize Michigan has 5 NFL Hall of Famers on the defensive line, the best corner duo in the history of college football and the new "best defensive coordinator in the country" since the last "best D coordinator in the country" left for Maryland last year. Hopefully little old Wisconsin with its lack of talent and resources can manage.

I'm interested to see how scUMs offense does. Wisconsin is pretty much by far the best D they will face so far IMO. If they can make Speight uncomfortable, I don't see scUM able to run the ball well enough just to win off that alone. Let's just hope the Baders don't give up any of the special teams miscues that scUM has had a lot of benefit of so far.

Do you have an efficient intermediate passing game?

Peppers is a monster at attacking the offense.

He's very beatable if you take the fight to him, especially if you can force him to stall while he reads the option or pre pass fake.

wisconsin's chances of an upset have taken a severe hit today. kicker gaglianone was ruled out for the season, which wasn't surprising news. the backup isn't so good. now there are rumors with a lot of smoke that linebacker biegel is out for the season due to a broken foot. that would be a massive loss.

Confirmed. Biegel's father hopes that he's "only" out 2-4 weeks, which would put him back right when Wisconsin's schedule lets up. :smash:
