2016 Defensive Line

With three starting DL out of the lineup today against ND today's performance by the DL was impressive and gave me much hope for 2016. Hill, Munger and Sprinkle did a good job on the inside and helped limit ND running game. Hubbard, Lewis and Holmes are all young and will only get better at bringing pressure from the outside. The fact that Darron Lee is returning next year gives us a great blitz LB from the outside.

Was looking bleak after the Bosa ejection but they got their feet back under them as the game wore on.

A Bosa-less DL didn't allow the #8 ranked team to have a 100yds by a single player and they had 121 total rushing yards. I'd say the DL stepped up. A lot to improve upon, but we have a solid DL talent base to work with.

ND is ranked #8 in the nation and has a good OL. Our youngins at DL did a good job against them.

I still have high hopes to see what a healthy Thompson and Dremont Jones can do on the inside. We'll be pretty athletic along the front, very versatile and I always feel in good hands with coach LJ there.

He didn't have much of an impact, but seeing Darius Slade (#42) in there was pretty cool to me. Hadn't seen him in before this season, but held his own.

Are you referring to Dylan Thompson? If so, I believe he is no longer on the roster? Was thinking that was the case, I could be mistaken.

Our inexperienced guys played solid yesterday against a good ND offense. However, with all of the talent and most importantly experience we're losing on defense next season, I am concerned. I think we may defensively, especially early. The Oklahoma game will be a challenge. Growing pains will be had. Just look at the snaps we're losing in one season:

Washington
Perry
Lee (likely)
Apple
Bell
Powell

That's 64% of the starting rotation and guys like Bosa and Powell have been playing for 3+ years consistently. We have plenty of talent on the roster, but replacing that experience only comes with more games played. I'm excited for 2016, but cautiously optimistic on the defensive side.
