Game Thread 2016 Spring Game, Sat 4/16, 1:30pm, BTN

Loved Spring game as well, for many of the above reasons. Discounted the speed, but when you have overall team speed, then it's hard to see it happening, but yes, the reaction speed to plays was huge. The OL is the foundation of this team, and right now that foundation is a tad shakey. Selecting these starters is almost more key than QB, because they have to anticipate each other on different types of rushes. Elflein will be a great center, because he'll help direct the young-uns on blocking schemes. (side note: tOSU has been blessed with bright, intuitive centers, and Elflein will continue that tradition). Not truly certain how 'good' the DL is, they appeared to 'get after it', and made some big plays, but......mainly because the OL was to wishy-washy? or because there is plenty of speed and scheming going on. Dunno. Additionally, the DL is missing some key folk, so when the OL settles in, we'll see how well they penetrate, and make our newbie DBs look good. Wanted to see some of the LBs blitz, but in a controlled scrimmage, wasn't going to happen. Saw some young talent make their bid for a starting roll, hunger doesn't even cut it. They were Ravenous, and know it means major playing time. Hope some of the Spring Game 'stars' carry forward to the Fall, when it counts. This team is loaded with talent, but not experience, and talent and speed make up for lack of experience. You might want to write that down. The Buckeyes will go as far as their OL carries them. The rest of the team will get into a good groove earlier. Great year, go Bucks!

Every time I start to get excited about spring game performances, the name "Bam Childress" pops into my head.

I'm not that worried about the OL. The 5 guys that go out there for BG in September weren't playing together last Sat. A couple of them didn't play at all. Now, if they can't run the ball against BG and JT is getting pummeled, I will need intensive psychiatric care, but I refuse to go there prematurely.

I thought Weber looked the part. Williams might need a few more pounds and some time. Hard to tell for sure with the limited touches. Receivers look like they will be really good and deep. I think we had our expectations elevated for Mack, and he didn't meet them, but you can see the talent and effort. I really like the way Joe B (Burrow, not Bauserman) throws the ball, and he can run a little. Good instincts. He looks like the future. Good to see Marcus Baugh have the light go on. Need to see what those young D linemen can do against OL 1's, but it looked promising. LB's and DB's look very talented and deep - just very young too.

It's going to be fun to see this team chase their potential.
