2016 tOSU OL Discussion

Wasn't it said several years ago that Elflein was a better center than Boren but because Boren was one of the 5 best he played center because of size & intangibles?
I thought it also helped that Boren was great at reading defenses, which is a major intangible. But Elflein was still a very good lineman, and we know the motto of Urban is that the best will play

6. The offensive line is taking shape.

While Urban Meyer and others have already said that Isaiah Prince and Jamarco Jones are expected to be the tackles, we haven't necessarily been told who will be lining up on which side. On Wednesday, however, J.T. Barrett referred to Prince as "our left tackle". Even though he hasn't played much, I expected Prince to get the first crack at left tackle due to his height. Obviously, however, things are still very, very early.

Right now, that would put Jones at right tackle, with Pat Elflein at center. Billy Price is at one of the guard spots and Demetrius Knox, Evan Lisle and Matt Burrell are all competing for the other guard spot. When junior college transfer Malcolm Pridgeon gets to campus this summer, we will see what he can do, but I think it's a bit much to expect him to come in and take somebody's job in just four weeks of fall camp.

When you lay it all out there, it becomes clear how much the loss of Pridgeon could affect us if we don't stay healthy at tackle. It would be great to have a clearcut backup at each tackle spot, but other than that, this is a very promising group. The talent and athleticism are off the charts. The most important trait of a good O-line is chemistry, so if they can gel early, this unit will be a lot of fun to watch.

I don't put the blame on Stud or the Oline. They are being put in a no win situation with the piss poor play calling. The D Line is just pinning their ears back because they know where the fucking ball is going. It is embarrassing the play calling, especially first down.
You've got to be kidding! The play calling scapegaot BS has to stop! Watch the damn game, and then watch the one against Wisky, its obvious that JT has little time to throw and the WRs aren't getting open outside of Brown and Samuel! The play calling was fine, the play calling didn't get Barrett sacked to end the game, the playcalling didn't cause numerous holding calls, playcallinf didn't cause bonehead drops by WRs. Jesus Christ, the play calling was very good tonight, execution by the O line and WRs was not! Very young OL in a 2nd consecutive hostile environment

Well that and they're young as all hell. Remember, this is probably the youngest o-line we've had since Urban has been here. Agreed that the play calling was mostly dog shit.

When your tackles play the way they did.. play calling is immaterial
however, why we didn't throw the TE onto the RT shoulder is a head scratcher
Prince may never be the same... confidence has to be decimated
and all PSU did was move a bit more outside and our OTs could not adjust

Yes, that's it. We should have only super WRs and all the woes would disappear.

I heard this same shit, blame the players when our.defejse sucked 4 years ago. I argued then the players were great, the scheme sucked ass which it did. I recall pnut and i disagreeing then too. Shazier and Roby went on yo be all pros. And ash came in and our defense all of the sudden became great again.

Coaching and scheme can make a.great player look avaerage or worse.

If you think the play calling was good last night, then i dont think we cam agree on much.
