2017-2018 B1G Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

An IU team that lost in blowout fashion to Indiana St and IPFW, and is barely over .500 on the season, is 5th in the B1G. That speaks volumes.

Maybe Gene was playing on an entire different level. He knew there would be intense pressure to hire Miller if he were available, so he strung Matta along until Miller was off the table then made the move to get the guy he wanted all along. Gene "Super Genius" Smith.

BTW, I know Izzo said this awhile ago but the whole tournament this year is a huge mistake. Playing the tournament a full week before the weekend of Selection Sunday makes no sense. Time off is nice but too much time off can hurt a tourney team. Say a tourney team loses on a Friday, that's 2 full weeks of no game action. I still don't get this. This game tonight against NW made me think of this and it just makes no sense.

One thing's for certain, Greg Gard is no Bo Ryan. Ryan was a Grinch-faced cock hole, but he was one helluva coach. Gard isn't getting near what I think Ryan would out of this year's team.

Ryan pushed them into hiring Gard, and it was a bad move for UW because Gard wasn't really qualified for the job and few people can coach up players the way Bo did. But I hate Wisconsin, so they should give Gard a lifetime deal.

Considering I took them +5.5 and sprinkled a little on them straight up...yeah, doomed. My bad, guys.

Nebraska now has a break until they play us on Monday while we will have a quick turn around after Minnesota. That game against them will not be easy

I am actually surprised Nebraska struggled as much as they did earlier in the year. Similar to us, they don't have much on the bench but have a very solid group of starters with Watson, Roby, Palmer Jr, Gill, and Copeland. Roby and Copeland just abused Wagner in the post last night. Three of their starters are transfers from other high majors so maybe it just took some time for everyone to gel together but I think they've got it going now.

I agree, their break vs. our non-existent break (including travel back from NYC) is gonna be tough.

If we can make it through the next two games without losing, that will be a big accomplishment and then the boys will finally get a little breather.
