Every Big Ten Tournament Seeding Scenario

Seeding.jpg

Note: Since Ohio State beat Indiana, just look at the left side of the picture.

The picture above may look like a full-color version of a screen from The Matrix, or a really ugly sweater pattern, but it is much, much more complicated than that.

Rather than detailing Neo’s current predicament, or keeping grandma happy, this is a spreadsheet of data detailing the seeding scenarios in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament.

It was created by Steven Wright and since it definitely involves the Buckeyes, we thought you might want to see it.

This is the last weekend of conference games, so each scenario is played out.

Ohio State travels to Indiana Friday night, and Michigan plays at Maryland Saturday afternoon. The rest of the schedule plays out on Sunday, as Wisconsin hosts Michigan State at 1:00 pm on CBS, Illinois goes to Rutgers, Purdue hosts Minnesota in what will land them in second or third place in the Big Ten, Penn State travels to Nebraska, and Iowa hosts Northwestern.

You can follow along as the games are played and then plug in the results and see where teams end up.

More than anything, however, this gives you an idea of what needs to happen for Ohio State to avoid Penn State for as long as possible.

Not happy Maryland got smoked today. Michigan is right on our tail for seeding in the NCAA tournament. Ohio State can still get a 4 seed but might need to make the Big Ten Finals to do so. Probably a 5 seed if Ohio State loses to Purdue in the Semi's. God forbid losing to Penn State again in the quarters that might drop them to a 6 seed.

OHIO STATE NOT NAMED IN LATEST COLLEGE BASKETBALL RECRUITING BOMBSHELL REPORT FROM YAHOO SPORTS

Yahoo Sports released a lengthy report on Friday detailing possible recruiting violations for at least 20 division I men's basketball programs – Ohio State was not mentioned in the report.

The report mentions a number of premier programs including Duke, Kentucky, Kansas and North Carolina, Xavier and features two Big Ten Schools: Michigan State and Maryland.

From Yahoo! Sports:

The documents tie some of the biggest names and programs in the sport to activity that appears to violate the NCAA’s amateurism rules. This could end up casting a pall over the NCAA tournament because of eligibility issues. There’s potential impermissible benefits and preferential treatment for players and families of players at Duke, North Carolina, Texas, Kentucky, Michigan State, USC, Alabama and a host of other schools. The documents link some of the sport’s biggest current stars – Michigan State’s Miles Bridges, Alabama’s Collin Sexton and Duke’s Wendell Carter – to specific potential extra benefits for either the athletes or their family members. The amounts tied to players in the case range from basic meals to tens of thousands of dollars.

This also adds another storyline as we head into the final weekend of regular season Big Ten play. With his eligibility in question, is there a chance Bridges will not play during Michigan State's road battle with Wisconsin as the Spartans try to wrap up the Big Ten title?

If that's the case, this weekend's race for the Big Ten crown just got a lot more interesting.

Michigan State's Miles Bridges has been cleared and will play Sunday at Wisconsin

Bridges was mentioned in Friday's report, but has been cleared to be on the court

Michigan State sophomore forward Miles Bridges has been cleared to play in the Spartans' regular season finale at Wisconsin on Sunday.

The university took more than 24 hours to come to a decision on Bridges, but after vetting Bridges' case with the NCAA, both entities have evidently deemed his situation above board and not at risk for potential retribution from the NCAA.

Big Ten Championship on the line!

At the end of the day we are in 1st place of the teams who didn't pay their players. Also we didn't manage to get a Big Ten schedule where we played only 1 of OSU, Purdue, scum, Penn State, and Nebraska on the road.

Bucks deserve the title. Go Badgers!
