2017-2018 B1G Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

As long as they win one game in the B1G Tourney, I am happy. I'd rather seem them rested and ready for the NCAA. Beating Purdue and Sparty again ain't worth diddly, if it means entering the NCAA with no legs.

In a normal season, perhaps, but with the move to MSG, they will sit over a week and half before the NCAA tourney begins.

Fans on a budget should be going to the local bar or a friend's home and watching the game there because they can't afford cable.
I guess you never thought that fans of some teams might like to see them in person rather than on TV. I do not know how many tournaments you have attended but I can remember following the Buckeyes down to Dayton and Lexington back in the 90s. Nothing like being there live with fellow fans.

And I agree. But there are plenty of B1G fans in the NYC area who will benefit from this season's tournament location, which likely won't be repeated.

Given we're having our conference tourney a week before all of the other major conferences, rust is more likely to be an issue than rest.

If the Buckeyes play in the B1G final on Sunday, they will have 10 days off (or 11) before they play in March Madness.

Personally I think the time off is an advantage. A lot of times teams that exert a lot of energy and go on a run in the conference tourney get knocked off quickly after a short week leading up to the NCAA. If OSU gets bounced early from the NCAA tourney, it's not going to be due to rust. I believe it has been an advantage for the smaller conferences for the extended rest & prep time.

I side with @Jake I believe that rust is more of a concern… just sayin

An advantage for the smaller conferences is teams overlook them despite their coach's warnings. "Ohio State" isn't going to get overlooked, and will probably be playing one of those smaller conference schools, so coming out flat and falling behind by 10 early could be a problem.

I have my doubts about this team but if KBD, Tate, and Kam don't come out with their hair on fire everyday in the NCAAs knowing it could be their last game, there's really no excuse for that. I don't see how rust or fatigue could play much of a factor. It's more just not being good enough

Wisconsin’s 19-year NCAA Tournament streak officially over

Wisconsin basketball has been a staple in the NCAA Tournament for as long as most can remember. But the Badgers will be spending March Madness at home this year for the first time in nearly two decades.

Wisconsin’s season came to an end Friday afternoon in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals. The team gave top-seeded Michigan State a fight, but Wisconsin’s upset bid fell short in a 63-60 loss. It means Wisconsin’s streak of 19 straight seasons in the NCAA Tournament is officially over.
