2017-2018 B1G Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

A&M asserting themselves against the Nittany Lions this half. Still...this A&M team is a big time sleeper. Should win the SEC, imo.
not many teams out there who can withstand a&m's barrage of athletic big men. their length is scary. throw in their outstanding three-point shooting, and they appear as good as anyone out there. i think their biggest problem area is ballhandling. they're not terribly secure with the ball.

psu losing 87-98 ain't a bad showing.

A&M was down a key guard vs PSU, I believe.

Currently there are 6 unbeaten teams in the B1G, including the Buckeyes. Rutgers and Illinois are in that group but I am expecting them to both be near the bottom of the league.

agreed. as things look right now, i'd take psu over each b1g team except for msu, purdue, and minnesota.

The computers put us about equal with Pedd State. Sagarin has us at 50, ahead of their 52. David Wilson has us tied in performance ranking. David Wilson's system actually ranks Purdue as the lone top-20 team from the B1G. KenPom is the one with the spread, ranking Ped at 40 to our 67.

Maryland also gets some love in the early returns.

Side note: Sagarin has us losing to the Zags by 6 on a neutral court.

I again see the B1G as a jumbled mess of good-but-not-quite-elite teams. Many teams that could vie for 4-7 types of seeds.

i hope the computers are borne out; however, i don't think there is a lot of value in them so early in the season, especially against bad competition. maybe we're as good as penn state. maybe we're better. my eye test, though, gives the edge to them. i like their physical makeup a lot more than ohio state's. i'm not saying we're soft, but we're softer than i'd like to see. if we had shooters, i wouldn't be as concerned.

Maybe, but I'm with you in that a lineup of KBD, Tate, and Kaleb Wesson in the frontcourt is not one that any team really looks forward to facing. This is assuming the continued development of Kaleb and the ability to avoid foul trouble. I like it.

I am not that familiar with David Wilson and how he ranks teams but how can he keep MSU out of the top-20. I know they got beat by Duke but that is just crazy.

Regarding PSU what concerns me about what will happen when we play them is if they use that 1-2-2 full court zone defense against us. It is just like any other team we play I just do not have any confidence in our ball handling and our outside shooting.

Michigan State will undoubtedly be top-10 with a few more games under their belts. Only 2-1 right now, so smaller sample size.

I don't know, maybe Dakich will be an adequate backup for us come B1G play. 5 assists and 1 turnover his last two games.
