osu vs. purdue via common opponents

maryland - purdue by 5 / osu by 22 (osu +17)
northwestern - purdue by 5 / osu by 6 (osu +18)
rutgers - purdue by 31 / osu by 22 (osu +9)
ttun - purdue by 1 / osu by 9 (osu +17)
wisconsin - purdue by 28 / osu by 25 (osu +14)

therefore, by way of the faultless transitive property, osu is currently better than purdue by 14 points. the math is clear.

Put me in the cautiously optimistic camp for this season if Holtman can get these guy just to play a little bit smarter and harder. They were in almost every single game last season......2 losses by 1, 3 by 2, 1 by 4, 1 by 5, and 3 more by <10. Take away a turnover here and a missed assignment there and they could have easily had 5 more wins.

Of course.....their 7 B1G wins weren't exactly blowouts, so they pretty easily could have had 5 more losses, too.

Okey dokey. Move me officially from the "cautiously optimistic" camp to the "really damned excited" camp. I never, ever would have expected this. I've already watched at least twice as many games this year as I did last. Ho1tman has done an unbelievable job.

Well that is the Pitino style, press as long as the opponent didn't get a live ball change of possession.

This has to be a major concern for the game coming up against Minny.

Thrilled to get the ugly win against NW with KBD having an off night, but Minny is built to press and they will press us a lot more and a lot better than NW did.

And apparently we still can't handle the press. At all. Not even a Mildcat press.

I don't know what Holtmann's going to do and honestly we simply might not have the personnel to solve this problem, but at least he knows what to expect from the Gophers (whereas I think Collins and NW did a good job discombobulating us tonight with their match-up zone and then their defensive switches) and can figure out the best plan possible. Meanwhile, our guys need to get rested and get ready to bring max energy and focus to that game at MSG.

I think Musa started trying to do too much and it has overwhelmed him mentally. He needs to define his role to himself and focus like crazy on it. Hopefully that is defense and rebounding because he can physically do that it's the nuances that he isn't getting on offense it seems to me.

another really rough game for Musa. turned it over twice quick and that's about it.

don't want to rag on him, he's a HS senior, really. but I am hoping he has one HECK of an off-season.

Still trying to maintain some level expectations because I still see problems with this team.

Or maybe I just think I'm still seeing problems as some mental roadblock in my brain from the last few years. I don't know. But this is fun.

I think part of what we're seeing is a down B1G, but it's nice to not be one of them and it takes nothing away from the Bucks or Coach Holt. No realistic fan expected to be in this position after 20 games.
