2017-2018 Ohio State Men's Basketball (24-7, 15-3, #2 Seed in B1G Tourney)

Ain't nobody with options gonna come here.

Nope. I get the funny feeling they are going to somehow weasel into the tourney next year as a 10/11 type seed too and buy this sinking ship more time instead of getting a shakeup. I know this prediction might sound ridiculous considering the current roster, but it would be fitting

They missed badly this year, and next year's roster is worse unless KBD is suddenly the second coming of Jimmy Jackson or Matta is magically reinvigorated. Their post players will be a pair of Freshmen, neither of whom are Jared Sullinger, or probably even Terrance Dials. With TT, they were possibly a fringe tournament team. Without him, it's fucking bleak.

I'll be shocked if they win more than 6 B1G games next year.

I was going over in my head various Big Ten teams and figured:

Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, State Penn, and Rutgers are the "maybe" Big Ten wins, the rest are toss-ups.

The team needs to improve:

- Free-throw shooting.
- Limit turnovers.
- Perimeter defense and interior defense.
- Perimeter shooting and interior offense.

I honestly don't know what area the team excels at and wish some players would go to a Rick Barry-style underhand free throw technique.

This would be more effective for some for sure

That is crazy talk when you say that Minnesota and the pedsters should be wins for the Buckeyes next season when both of those schools, especially the gophers, have everyone coming back from their starting five.
Free-throw shooting.
The free-throw shooting was not that bad this past year and with the addition of Wesson it should get even better. Free throws do not win or lose most games it is the other things that you mentioned in your "fine" post.

Thad Matta needs an entire recruiting class of guys that bleed Scarlet. They still have to be able to play but he'd be better off with the 3* guys who have wanted to be Buckeyes their entire lives than to try and scrounge up 4*and 5* guys who really don't want to be here.

Where are the real gym rats who do all of the fundamentals right? Where are the Jay Burson's of the world, the Aaron Crafts? Those are the kids he needs to restabilize the program. He isn't the type of coach to get all of these flashy guys and win. He wins a lot more with kids like David Lighty than he does with the Greg Odens. Just the way he is. Get back to the basics.

For Matta (or anyone else for that matter), I think it starts Jeremiah Francis. He has a vision of what OSU basketball should/could be, and I think would become a major recruiter, once he commits.

I can buy into this to a degree but you need one or two bell cows to get the program back where it belongs. The type of guys that you are referring to our guys like Goodwin (my favorite committed recruit) and Ahrens. They want to be Buckeyes and I think when they finish their senior year of high school they will be more highly ranked than they currently are.

I know we disagree on this subject, but tOSU was ranked 249th out of 347.....that's pathetic and yes free throws do win and lose lots of games....
