CFB Weekly Thread 2017 CFB Week 3 Open Thread

I doubt he makes it half way through the season.

Nebraska would look extremely foolish firing a coach they gave an extension in the same season. Highly doubt that happens.
Yep. They just extended him. His record at the time of the extension? 15-12. Corn has raised the white flag in football.

The only way he doesn't get next season is if the AD gets shitcanned and the new AD wants to bring in "his" guy.

If they want any chance at salvaging a program that's been slowly bleeding out since the early 2000's, they need to go get Scott Frost. Not sure they're smart/ambitious enough to do that, though.

Stanford falls to mighty SDSU, 20-17.

and the Texas team who had 51 hung on them at home by Maryland goes into the Coliseum and takes USC* to double OT.

*who damn near lost to WMU at home in week 1

So USC's claim to a top 5 ranking (besides being a major media market team) is surviving Texas and Western *ichigan and thumping a bad Stanford team (all at home).

That is Notre Dame level over hyped, name only ranking bullshit right there

In 2 years:

Passing - 69% 7,820 yds 63 TD's 22 INT's
Rushing - 2169 yds 6.3 ypc 30 TD's

Led A&M to their most successful season in 15 years. Also the only QB to beat Bama when they won the NC in 2012.

Yeah, that's not incredible at all.
Sam Darnold after basically 1 full season (took over in week 4 last year):

67% for 4088 yards, 38 TD, 15 INT. He already has more INTs (6) than games played and almost as many INTs as TDs (7) this year.

Manziel wasn't thrown in as a Freshman, so Darnold has time to improve. He's also trying to be more of a pocket passer and not make plays with his legs. But still leaves the pocket really early to start running around causing him to make a lot of dumb mistakes. Short throws over the middle Darnold is quick and accurate. It's just those long balls that he puts out there are high heave 50/50 balls and he's banking on his receiver to be better than the corner, much like Mike Evans was better than everyone he lined up against. Much like Cardale throwing to Devin Spencer.
