2017 College Football Playoffs (and Other Bowl Games)

Agent Denham in the wolf of wall street says it best.... "Opportunity, is everything"

Can't win it if you aren't in it. If you're in it you have a good shot.

shoot you could put a team like Northwestern in the playoffs and they have decent odds when you really consider it (probably like 10-15%). A team gets hot, goes on a run and plays a perfect game, or shoot even lets just say Clemson doesn't show up (like they did against Alabama) and you could very well be looking at a National Championship for NW.

It'll never happen though because a program like NW will never be given that OPPORTUNITY.

Maybe Clemson was just severely overrated? Maybe their resume was completely inflated and got a Mulligan after losing to 4-8 Syracuse? Bama actually has an awful offense? Who could have known? If OSU was in at #4 and they probably beat Clemson, would they be down 13-0 at half when OSU's strong suit is run defense and they have a QB who is actually able to complete a forward pass? Not all that well, but way better than Jalen Hurts. Hmmmm, makes you think...of course the committee saved us from ourselves. Of course. Oh and Alabama proved the committee correct last week. Of course.

As of now, OSU is the 3rd best team in the country imo. Don't think they beat Georgia, but they're not down 13 imo.
It's hard to put OSU so high, because we never know just what OSU team will show up. And the inevitable run JT up the middle won't always work, and playing not to lose doesn't always work. OSU holds themselves back, which is why I don't think we would've beaten any of the 4 teams. Our coaches wouldn't put them in the best positions to make the best plays, we'd ride our QB instead of riding our RBs and putting the ball in the best players hands like Campbell and Mack.

I'm just hoping that 2018, the coaches scratch some of the old game plan and we use our RBs more and get the ball out quickly to the outside. Then I'd feel more confident in this offense

For the record, the same applies to us last year as far as I'm concerned. I was happy to accept the bid because I'm biased to tOSU, but I could see why anyone outside of our world thought it was BS.

If you're going to have these conference title games and call them "conference championships", then they should mean more than the subjective opinions of teams who didn't compete in one.

We took OU's spot. If we don't beat BXII Conference Champ in their home, guaranteed we're not in it - they are.
It's the risk/reward of scheduling OU or scheduling Mercer.

If Haskins is the starter they almost have to. They would be insane to try to use him as a primary runner.

I hear you. But I may be wrong, but I believe that Urban tried to use the same offense for John Brantley as he did for Tebow and IT. And it didn't go so well. I'm hoping that Wilson and Day can convince him to let Dobbinsand Weber be the focal points

yeah, include me in hoping that the QB run can and will be be used as an effective element of surprise with Haskins and the proper read doesn't dictate him running it 10-15 x's /game or this offense will again struggle in big games going fwd.

They scheduled Florida State. No one was screaming cupcake at the time.

Now we can talk about results and how FSU being 6-6 should matter (not sure it did with the committee), but if you're going on about "scheduling" you can't ignore FSU and just beat the Mercer drum.

We don't schedule FCS ... so I can and will continue to point out SEC's cowardice.
