Josh Rosen leads UCLA back from 34-point deficit to stun Texas A&M

UCLA staged an impossible rally from 34 points down to stun Texas A&M 45-44 on Sunday night at the Rose Bowl. Trailing 44-10 with four minutes to play in the third quarter, Bruins quarterback Josh Rosen carried his team to five consecutive touchdown drives, the final one culminating on a 10-yard scoring toss to Jordan Lasley with 43 seconds remaining.

And it helps to be "lucky" too:

UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen said it was obvious the Bruins didn't give up, but he is fully aware just how close they came to losing on several occasions. “We were an inch away from losing that game probably ten times,” Rosen said. “From throwing a pick, almost throwing a pick to a d-lineman, to two tipped balls. I was fully trying to throw that ball away -- that touchdown to Theo -- I was not throwing it to anyone. He just hit my hand. I just got lucky.”

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield is currently Bovada’s favorite for the Heisman Trophy with 7/4 odds. Louisville quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson is tied for second-best odds with USC’s Sam Darnold at 11/2. Penn State running back Saquon Barkley and Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph share the same 9/1 odds as well. Players jumping from off the board include Ohio State’s J.K. Dobbins (40/1) Oregon’s Royce Freeman (25/1) and Justin Herbert (25/1), and Stanford running back Bryce Love (66/1).

Just sayin': Yeah, I know he has some receiving and kick return yards; but Barkley just hasn't put up the rushing numbers the last couple weeks, vs Indiana 56 yards, and vs NW 75 yards.

Bryce Love update: Still ridiculous

852742340-e1506275077165.jpg

All the Cardinal running back did was carry 17 times for a measly 147 yards — good for a pathetic 8.6 yards per carry — and two touchdowns in No. 22 Stanford’s 48-7 destruction of Oregon. Stanford is in the midst of a typical David Shaw second-half run, and that team success may be starting to hurt Love’s personal numbers. His 147 yards — which would be good for sixth nationally on a per game basis — dropped his average by close to eight yards per game, and his 8.6 yards per carry — which, again, would place eighth among all runners — cut that average from 10.5 to 10.27.

But, still, Love’s numbers remain on an historically great track.

Through seven games, Love has rushed 135 times for 1,387 yards and 11 touchdowns. In 135 carries, Love by himself would rank 29th among teams in rushing offense. He’s run for 50 more yards than actual No. 29 LSU — in 151 fewer carries.

And Love’s numbers still keep him in the conversation with Barry Sanders‘s Heisman pace. Through seven games in 1988, Sanders had carried 192 times for 1,476 yards — a pedestrian 7.69 per carry — and 22 touchdowns.

I'm thinking Love should be the front runner for the Heisamn now.
