2017 NFL Draft (April 27-29)

Ohio State is a football factory:
Last year, Ohio State produced a ridiculous amount of NFL talent. In fact, 11 of the first 102 picks were Buckeyes. That's ridiculous! This year, they won't approach those numbers, but they will be well represented. I have four Buckeyes in my initial top 50 list, including 2 of my top 3 players overall. I think there's definitely a chance that all four of the players on my list (Malik Hooker, Marshon Lattimore, Gareon Conley and Curtis Samuel) hear their names called in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. -- Daniel Jeremiah

Yeah Mel Kiper is an AssWipe, but still....

MEL KIPER JR.: MARSHON LATTIMORE HAS HIGHEST CEILING OF ANY CORNER IN 2017 NFL DRAFT, OHIO STATE SET TO UNLOAD ANOTHER IMPRESSIVE CLASS

We are in the early stages of NFL Draft season, which means Ohio State players no longer in the program are readying to state their case in front of NFL brass. General managers, owners and other members of the front office are busy researching the available talent to prepare for the Draft. Top analysts like Mel Kiper Jr. are doing the same.

Kiper released his first mock draft on Thursday morning and he slotted two Buckeye defensive backs among the top 32 picks: cornerback Marshon Lattimore and safety Malik Hooker. Kiper has Lattimore going sixth overall to the New York Jets and Lattimore at No. 17 to Washington.

From the mock:

No. 6 New York Jets

Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State

Lattimore is another first-year starter who jumped to the top of my cornerback rankings with a stellar season. A hamstring injury limited his time on the field in Columbus in 2014 and 2015. Speed, size (6-foot-1, 190) — he has all the traits to be a star. Darrelle Revis could be on his way out with the Jets — or move to safety — and Lattimore would slide into his spot on Day 1.

17. Washington Redskins

Malik Hooker, S, Ohio State

Hooker was the best center-field-type safety I saw this season — he has incredible speed and range and was all over the field for the Buckeyes. He had seven interceptions, three of which he returned for touchdowns. Washington could also have a need at wide receiver, even after taking Josh Doctson in the first round last year. Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson are both free agents. Keep an eye on a pass-rusher here, too.

What! Nobody 's pickin' Gerbil before these Lattimore, Hooker and Conley? The Big Ten has rigged the draft - no, wait, this is Michigan, not Penn State. Don't they understand how important it is to be a team player and run all over the field being mediocre?

FWIW - The Falcons have worked out Pat Elflein and would have him slated in the late 2nd early 3rd.
Ideally he'd be a fit for right guard in the NFL and his value would be considerable experience in zone blocking schemes.

Top NFL Draft prospect accused of sexual assault at downtown Cleveland hotel by Dan DeRoos Posted: 04/24/2017 10:40 PM

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - There have been numerous conversations at Cleveland 19 News about the report you are about to read. There's a lot at stake. It involves a young woman who said she was sexually assaulted, a young man who is about to start his NFL career, and a team who may be taking a huge risk drafting a player who's under investigation right here in Cleveland.

Police radio traffic coming from downtown Cleveland's Westin Hotel after 3 a.m. Sunday, April 9 sheds light on the moment officers arrived on scene: "Officers on scene, no call back -- 23-year-old female conscious and breathing, victim of a sexual assault."

The accused is a college football player who is expected to be taken in the first round of Thursday's NFL Draft.

We are not naming the player because we're waiting for the police report. And we want to be very clear he has not been officially charged with a crime at this point.

Dunno how to research this one... 12+ visitors this month; Patrick Mahomes, Melifonwu, Njoku and Dalvin Cook were two weeks ago.. but lots of others
You can omit Hooker and Mixon.. dates don't match
I'm always skeptical of rape allegations of celebrities.. not that some aren't WELL founded... but others are not... altho "female conscious and breathing" sounds bad

Peter King continues the stream of scouts/columnists that can't seem to name ONE thing that GerbiLLL does well on the field, instead relying on the nebulous "he's a star" refrain that is so familiar with Peppers...

30. PITTSBURGH
Jabrill Peppers, S, Michigan
I’ll be honest here: I just want Peppers in the first round. The nickel/LB/PR is a star.

So, four months of scout/media trying to evaluate what GerbiLLL does that will translate to the NFL and make him worthy of being a first round selection has netted bupkis. The only tangible thing on his resume is a failed piss test at the combine. Sounds like a recipe for success.

I still argue there's never been a more fraudulent media creation than this dope. I know people like to throw out Te'O's name, but he at least was a productive college player. GerbiLLL was a good returner, gadget/decoy on offense, and extremely flawed defender.
