2017 standouts include Ohio State in top lists

Off to a hot start, the Buckeyes are one step closer to adding to its star studded 2017 class.
Akron Archbishop Hoban standout Danny Clark has been verbally committed to the program for over two years, but that isn't keeping Urban Meyer and the Ohio State coaching staff from trying to secure a pledge from another standout quarterback from the class of 2017.
Keeping close tabs on signal callers, Ohio State learned they are still in the mix for the top dual threat quarterbacks in the country. On Sunday morning, five-star recruit Tate Martell stated via his Twitter page that he is now concentrating on five schools. Just days after announcing his top seven, the former Texas A&M commit, who lines up for Bishop Gorman (NV), is down to Ohio State, California, Colorado, UCLA and USC. While the aforementioned programs all made Martell's cut, Miami and West Virginia now find themselves on the outside looking in.
Not the biggest quarterback at only 5'11 and 200-pounds, Martell makes up for his lack of size with great touch, arm strength and athletic ability, which is something he once again showed off during the Elite 11 final held in California over the weekend. Battling against some of the best on the high school level, Tate shined all weekend and was named among the best of hand throughout the weekend.

2017 DT names leaders
Just a few hours after Martell let the world know his top list, another class of 2017 prospect announced his leaders as well. Three-star defensive tackle Dalyn Wade-Perry is down to eight programs. Fighting for Dalyn's pledge are Ohio State, Stanford, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Penn State, Florida and UCLA

A roadblock, at 6'3 and over 320 pounds, Wade-Perry is currently considered the 27th defensive tackle, and 358th overall prospect in the class of 2017, according to the 247Sports Composite.
The Ohio State coaching staff are always looking to bring talented lineman into the fold, but at the moment Wade-Perry ending up in the Scarlet and Gray looks very bleak. Even though he is from New Jersey power Pope John XXIII, the same program that produced current Buckeye receiver Noah Brown, a number of analyst around the recruiting scene believe he will play on the next level at Stanford.

- Ohio State played host to longtime class of 2017 verbal commit Shaun Wade over the weekend. Committed to the Buckeyes since January of 2015, the trip was the first time Wade made the trek from the Jacksonville, Florida area to Columbus with his family. Wade told Land-Grant Holy Land that his visit was great and he really enjoyed it. This won't be the last time the five-star cornerback will back in Columbus this month, as he is scheduled to be back on the OSU campus next weekend.
- On July 11, five-star safety Jeffrey Okudah will announce which six programs will battle for his commitment. Arguably the top overall prospect in the class of 2017, Okudah will trim his list down from well over 30 scholarship offers. While a long list of programs have their fingers crossed, hoping to have a chance at Okudah, Ohio State, who had the Texas native on campus in May, will more than likely be one of the six schools grinning in July.
- Okudah isn't the only 2017 standout about to end his recruitment. Tyjon Lindsey, of Centennial High in Corona, CA is too. The five-star wide out announced on Twitter that he will make his college choice on August 22 between Ohio State, Auburn, Nebraska, Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee, USC, Oregon and Alabama.
