Aside from Tua and his lil bro coming in, and the WRs ... what's really awe inspiring about Bama? Their OL was trash. Back seven was trash. DL didn't get one sack all night.

For a team that has stockpiled 5-stars for about 8 years in a row they've had weak links all over for a long, long time.

They've gotten more second chances than anybody else for a decade cause dey SEC (which has had a losing bowl record for 4 years now). That's their legacy.

Look at it every year. Saban, for years, had a system and stability on his staff. Lately, that ain’t so. Their D was always their identity; this year, it was seriously flawed. They used to kick your ass running the ball behind 5 maulers on the OL; their OL looked flawed in several games. I’ve never seen a dynasty-era Saban team get their dicks kicked in the dirt like that. I’m not saying they’re gonna slump to 8-5 next year, or even miss the playoffs, but every dynasty ends eventually...and it kinda felt like that...to me, anyway.

Let me preface this by saying F you both for making me defend Bama.

Yeah, they had flaws...like every single team in the country; they still went 14-1. Their D was a weak link, because they've lost basically an entire NFL defense over the past 2 drafts. Everyone knew they were going to be dependent on the O this year. Clemson got lucky and returned their entire DL. They won't next year and may look a lot like this year's Bama.

And sure they collapsed tonight but I think the both of you are blowing it way out of proportion in terms of their future. Their flaws will vary year to year based on who they lost to the draft. Doesn't mean the dynasty is over, especially with espn to campaign heavily for them. They make the playoff every year and alternate years when they win the NC.

Would love to be wrong on this but I just don't see any real reason to believe they won't continue to be elite

I don’t agree. Clemson tricked him tonight. He was inadequately prepared for the looks he was going to get.

He’s had two difficult games in his career. In one of those, he got injured on the fourth play of the game.

The problems he has are holding the ball too long, refusing to check down, and being fragile. We will see if he can fix that next year.
I watched a lot of Bama this year. He got baited by UGA DBs also, didnt convert a single 3rd down against them. He held the ball and threw crazy reckless passes at times all year. Without major improvement his style of play will bring very inconsistent results in the NFL. And being fragile wont be fixed.

His QBR against the top defenses they faced:
No 1 defense Miss St 37.9 14/21 1td 1int
No 2 defense Clemson 21.5 22/34 2td 2int
No 14 defense Georgia 15.1 10/25 1td 2int
No 25 defense LSU 82.4 25/42 2td 1int
Then he lit the world on fire against poor to mediocre defenses.

Their recruiting has sorta dropped off too lately. It's still phenomenal, but down a bit by Alabama standards. They don't have a 5-star waiting in the wings at every position anymore.

You have a good point. He is flawed, but i feel a lot of that is due to the lack of protection he got. He’s got room for improvement, but he’s a damn good qb.
