2018-2019 B1G Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

I have no love for IU (though can tolerate them much better now that Crean's gone and Archie's likable enough--I also like their current team) but disappointed that they dropped the game to Arkansas today because I think they have all the pieces to tear it up in conference play.

Upon further review, I dont feel anymore that UM will be a bubble team this season, their defense is just too good. Purdue looks a bit better than I had expected as well. Maybe I was jaded by the B1G mid-tier teams being frozen out last year. Every year it is so different - the B1G getting only 4 last year frankly should not have happened as PSU was certainly better than some of the teams that made it, just an odd perfect storm miss. This year the pendulum looks like it is swinging the other direction and it appears that that it could be a 7- or 8-bid league.

Joey Brackets today is projecting 9 teams from the B1G to make the tourney - the 5 out are IL, MN, NW, PSU and RU. OSU projects as a 6 seed - that is fair. With the B1G being so stacked, I would not be surprised to see OSU end up in the 8-9 range.

Illinois holds the L as last-place finishers in Maui. They pulled off the golden sombrero of sorts, losing 4 straight vs power conference teams to start the year 1-4. Critics of Brad Underwood's high-risk pressure D strategy are not being quieted.
and, to put it lightly, their fans are none too pleased about underwood passing on horton-tucker. despite the offer, the story is that brad was kinda "thanks, but no thanks" with tht. that wound is going to fester all season long.
