2018-2019 College Basketball Discussion (Official Thread)

Scottie Pippen went public with his opinion that Zion should quit playing college basketball because he has locked up the #1 pick and top shoe deal already.

It's one thing if you are advising football players to sit meaningless bowl games. This is basketball, there is a very low probability of an injury that will linger for months after the season. It's the middle of a season where your team has a legit chance to win a national championship. I'm not saying Scottie is crazy, but Zion chose to play college basketball. No one forced him to pick that route. It would be terrible if guys stop playing college basketball mid-season because they think their stock is high enough. I could be wrong, but I believe NBA teams want competitors, not quitters.

Eliminating the one-and-done rule would help this issue as a lot of the high draft guys would already be in the draft, but yeah, man, I hate the thought of players playing their way up the draft boards into the first round and then sitting out the remainder of seasons. Really hope that doesn't become a reality.

You call it quitting. I call it a good business decision.

This is college basketball. Dude isnt injured, and the risk of severe injury in NCAA basketball for a particular player over a span of 10 weeks is negligible. You think he is going to be picked lower than #1 even if he tears an ACL? I think not. So what would sitting out accomplish? Nothing, other than making him look like a weenie.

Lost in the Tennessee escape at home vs Bama on Saturday: the Tide shot 2-11 from the foul line the second half. Really a mediocre performance by the Vols. On paper they have everything needed to make a deep run, but you still have to guard people.

I feel this year is going to be the year that ends Kansas's streak in the Big 12. The Jayhawks are a lot of mediocre right now. They may not seem like it in the rankings now, but their program has fallen off a cliff from where they were last March.

azubuike was a massive loss. with him, kansas was undefeated, which included wins over tennesse (now #1) and msu (#6). they certainly wouldn't have lost to asu and wvu had he been available. heck, the jayhawks would probably be #1 in the current poll.

Tennessee is ranked #1 but the last couple of games they have looked like a team that is likely to bow out in the Sweet 16 or Elite 8. Narrow escape at Vandy today, if Grant William's missed one FT of like 17 he shot in regulation they would have lost.
