Let's get it started for Coach Holtmann's 2nd season with the Buckeyes.

Big Ten matchups announced (20-game conference schedule now):

Home:
Illinois
Iowa
Maryland
Michigan State
Minnesota
Northwestern
Penn State
Purdue
Rutgers
Wisconsin

Away:
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Maryland
Michigan State
Nebraska
Northwestern
Purdue
Rutgers
TSUN

Play once- Minnesota, Penn State, Wisconsin (Home). Indiana, Nebraska, TSUN (Away).

Moving to 20 games and only playing that team once, and away this year, is rubbish.

Amazing how almost every year they find a way to have OSU play at IU, even after the expansion to 14 teams. I believe that is the road trip that OSU has had on the league schedule more than any other over the past 9 or 10 years.

One thing that is a slight disadvantage somewhat for OSU as far as B1G scheduling procedure goes is they have no protected 2-game rivalry, while other programs such as UM-MSU & IU-PU do. That takes a little starch out of your schedule when some other programs are guaranteed 2 high quality games vs a rival every year and you may get 1 plus an extra game with one of Rutgers/PSU/MD instead.

Over a span of 12 consecutive seasons, counting 2019, OSU will have played at IU 11 times, one more road trip there than any other conference foe. Nebraska has only been in the league 7 years and already OSU has missed traveling there twice. I was also surprised to see that OSU has only had 17 regular season games with PSU and UW over these 12 years. They will have played IL, IN, IA, UM & MSU each 20-21 times apiece in the regular season in the same span.

Most head to head matchups than any other team (IU 128, ttun 126).

Luckily a few of Bloomington trips have been over break in Dec/Jan. Less hostile, plus made it easier to get tix for the drive down for me.

Still, that’s a lot of times going on the road to one of the loudest/toughest places in the country. Balanced :roll1:

With Woods on the team for 2019, I think CH has officially skipped the rebuilding phase. I am seeing another team with top-25 material.

A starting group of CJJ, Key, Luther, Jaedon and Kaleb is very nice, and features a pretty darn good 3-guard lineup. They would have a bench with Duane, Musa, Kyle A, Kyle Y, Andre and Micah. Duane could be the productive 6th man they were missing this past year. Overall, looking pretty solid.

I think without KBD, Kyle Young will have a larger role, even if he is coming off the bench. He certainly has the intangibles - effort, athleticism, team-oriented - he has a base of post skill he needs to develop and get confidence in, a long with his perimeter shooting, and he could become a reliable option offensively.

Woods is a huge boost. We are still going to need someone else to step up on offense, I think, for us to sniff the T25 next season... but it could happen. And now we have at least a three-prong attack on offense between CJ, Key, and Kaleb. I think Holtmann has enough pieces for a functional offense, and hopefully some of the other guys can help with the scoring by committee but also in whatever roles they can carve out their niche, be it defense, rebounding, etc.

IU landed Romeo Langford today, huge 5-star get and the highest rated player IU has landed since, I dunno, Eric Gordon?

IU and scUM very easily could be the best teams in the conference next season (though I expect MSU to be in that mix, too). So annoyed we only play them on the road.

Sort of surprising regarding Langford. Thought he would end up at Vandy.

IU will be good next season but in addition to ttun and Sparty, I would not count out Iowa or Northwestern and possibly the Gophers if Pitino was not their coach. Also, do not sleep on the Buckeyes:wink:
