Any program hoping to be competitive in their conference, let alone nationally, wouldn’t have to lean on those kind of players for significant minute. But, we’re still digging out of a pretty deep hole, so here we are. Talent is coming, just gonna have to take some lumps.

If you couldn't see this coming you might not have seen the Bucknell game, or the YSU game, or the Cuse game, or the last few minutes of MSU.

I've been preaching all season that our non-con turned out to be a very lucky one for us (not to mention Minny coming to town on rotten legs) and you could see the limitations of this team from a mile away.

Unfortunately we had several players--who have been inconsistent--have ugly games on the same night and we lost to Rutgers. The question is will that be the new norm now that we're going to be playing better competition every game and a LOT of really tough road games? Because if so we might be lucky to hit .500 in this particular B1G.

I couldn't even watch the game because of my strange working schedule. Quite frankly I expected games like this a little earlier than now. Sucks for them to let MSU beat you twice but I'll start to get worried if they haven't improved by March. That's when the good coaches do their best work.

Those early wins over Cincinnati and Creighton got me excited about this team, but as the games progress it's becoming apparent there's been a drop off from KBD and Tate in terms of what they brought last year's bunch. KBD could do it all, and Tates driving/rebounding were essential. Right now, this looks like a team with one post up man and a bunch of jump shooters.

Young is scrappy but not much of an offensive threat. Muhammad shows flashes of driving ability but doesn't do it consistently. Instead of a top 20 team this may ultimately be more of a bubble team, but maybe losing to Rutgers is causing a slight overreaction. Beating Penn State this season would be nice, but scUM seems like a stretch at this point.

Time will tell.

Creighton lost at home last night so, yeah, bad night for our resume. I wasn't surprised in the slightest that we lost, though. Anyone who is hasn't been paying enough attention. Going to be a struggle to get to .500 in the B1G with our lack of play-making.

honestly there's no shame in who and how Creighton lost last night. Marq was on fire especially that howard kid but your point is taken

This team is starting to remind me a little of the 2008 NIT team with struggles to make shots, and a lot of games where they hang in there the first half and fall off badly the second half. I would say it is a sign of inexperience, but there are a handful of upperclassmen on this team. I guess the reality is the upperclassmen just aren't very good.
